highplummeter -> help me find a truggy (4/30/2008 12:30:32 AM)

i am looking for a preferably 1/10 scale nitro truggy, that is 4wd, and with plenty of power. at least 2hp, or that can be easily changed to have more, and have at least 2 speeds preferably, but i could get along with only. I have been looking all over the place for one, but all i have found for vehicles is the HPI Nitro MT 2 18SS+ Kit ( but it does not enough power for me). And the Ofna 1/8 Hyper 7 TQ Sport Kit, nice power once u had in the engine, good price range. But it is not 1/10, and that i would like to go with a truggy. Could somebody help me out?!

Truggy is usually 1/8 scale. Stadium truck is 1/10 scale. I would get a 1/8 truggy if you want power and 4wd. Plus it's easy to race as most clubs have a large truggy class.

Neither one of those are truggies. One's a buggy (hyper 7) and one is a 1/10 off road truck.

The Jammin CRT, Mugen MBX5T, and the Losi 8ight T are truggies.

rebelracer246 -> RE: help me find a truggy (4/30/2008 1:21:59 AM)

ya if your looking for a good cheap truggy im goin with the losi 8ight t
if u want stadium i would go with the hpi .18ss

highplummeter -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/9/2008 9:03:02 PM)

can somebody give me links or descriptions of 'mandatory' parts for the Mt2 18ss+ (by mandatory i mean parts to replace the stock so the truck doesn't end up being (purposely) driven into a brickwall at top speed, or thrown across the room from where you are ) I have heard this truck has had a poor slipper clutch, and the difffs keep stripping and the spur gears as the egine has so much torque. Can someone reccomend me parts to fix this, if the problems are authentic, and any oter problmes associated with the truck.

Did I just Losi was a good CHEAP truggy? Good YES but not cheap compared to others.

rebelracer246 -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/9/2008 10:11:18 PM)

im talking a rtr that you can race right out of the box and not have to but alot of hop up parts

Jim8ightT -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/9/2008 10:13:06 PM)

are the parts on the race roller really justify the price increase

rebelracer246 -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/9/2008 10:18:03 PM)

the race roller is $100 less and comes with some annodized parts witch is better

Jim8ightT -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/9/2008 10:19:48 PM)

i ment as in the fact that the race roller has no radio or engine and thats what i mean by price increase

vnmsgt -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/9/2008 10:22:35 PM)

I would just go with the RTR unless you want to race hardcore or something. Yes the Losi is a cheaper RTR in the LONG run but not the initial purchase.

Jim8ightT -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/9/2008 10:24:25 PM)

thanks I just don't want to buy another money pit [:D] I bought a jato from traxxas and well i won't do that again

rebelracer246 -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/9/2008 10:24:51 PM)

ya and they are easer to get hop up parts for because of there populatery

vnmsgt -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/9/2008 10:27:08 PM)

Hop ups can be easy for anything if you know where to and what to look for. I think traxxas products are way over priced. Yes they are neat (I had a jato, tmaxx 2.5-3.3 and Revo 3.3) but they break to easy IMO. Drivelines and transmissions are not tough enough.

Jim8ightT -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/9/2008 10:28:39 PM)

i had one with the os 18tz and well there was no transmission left lol

rebelracer246 -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/10/2008 4:52:11 AM)

i have a revo 2.5 with the 3.3 on it and havent broke alot and i ran into a brick wall at full speed

ModifiedMaxx -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/10/2008 5:48:22 AM)

Well, there is a new HB truggy called the LSP 2 RTR, you could check that out at hotbodiesonline.com but looks like you've already made your choice and i dont want to confuse you again on which to get. Good Luck!

mtbkym01 -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/10/2008 7:16:31 AM)

There's also this to consider from Kyosho DST Readyset 1/10 Truggy

highplummeter -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/12/2008 9:57:03 PM)

Wow. Kyosho DST Readyset 1/10 Truggy is very very very close to the Hpi MT2 18ss+. At least now i have more than i vehicle to look at that fits my nature[:D]. I got one random question though, roghly, about how long will a 100cc tank run a .18 size engine? In general is what i want, if it varies too greatly, could someobdy give me it for the eninge in the Mt2 18ss+?

highplummeter -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/12/2008 10:00:06 PM)

oh and a few more questions, could someone give me a link to a good clear drawaing or illsutrutions of the gears within a nitro vehicle? So i can see as to how increasing the size of one gear compares to the total gear ratio.
only two more questions, r there any way to custumize any torque converter to fit the mt2?, and would it be better to reduce the spur gear/increase the clutch gear as it will not be raced?

traxxasracer_4 -> RE: help me find a truggy (5/14/2008 12:54:49 AM)

i like the mammoth st. i know how much people on this site hate it but i have one and race with it. the only complaints that i have are the 2 speed ( i switched mine out for a center diff from a kyosho i think) and the wheel and tire combo i think they are just too big. if you get the truck and have some $ left get a better radio and maybe an engine
