Hi Guys

The model was bought on eBay from sylvian at a reasonable price it was posted/shipped
To Gibraltar (Europe) I received the model in 14 day from the date of shipping.

Just to get the ball rolling,
I decided to change the decoration on the model I removed all of the top and bottom
Wing including the tail plane colour decals.
I also decided to remove the entire white ultra coat from the bottom part of the fuselage.
My little helper is my niece

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (4/30/2008 7:34:04 PM)

The fuselage was placed on top of a scale,
As I decided to weigh all the parts that will be added to the model as I go along.

The fuselage on its own weighed 1.475kg

I also weighed the engine box as this is the first thing I was going to do to the model.
Just to let you guys now that the total weight includes the four struts and mounting screws
That will later be holding the frame of the top wing.

Engine box weighed 455gr

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (4/30/2008 8:02:50 PM)

Here you have the picture of the engine box being added to the fuselage.
I have not used all the parts as it is not necessary,
I have added some ply strips to re enforce the two main struts and balsa triangle on every angle.
I will be also adding fibreglass epoxy to the all of the box to re enforce the engine box when I finish.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (4/30/2008 8:10:42 PM)

I re-weighed the fuselage and I have not gained any unnecessary extra weight.
I have taken the measurements and prepared the firewall for a ZDZ80RV-J (ZDZ SUPER 80) prior to gluing the firewall in place

krayzc-RCU -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/1/2008 1:39:10 AM)

looking good

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/1/2008 12:37:31 PM)

Well I have decided to keep the miler hinges on the kit this will save me 200gr to the total Weight.
I bought 1Mtr of Profilm/Oracover and I cut strips of 3cm-1”1/4 to the total length of the control suffices,
after applying CA to all the hinges I then started to re-enforce the hinging point by placing the strips of
ProFilm ironed on over the hinges.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/1/2008 12:52:59 PM)

I have been using this method for quite some time,
and I can say for a model with foam veneered wings is one of the best ways,
Or shall I say the way I prefer the most.

By using this method which is lighter smoother and you will gain more efficiency on your control surfaces.
As there is no air gap between the trailing of the wing and the leading edge of your control surfacethis this will
make your models perform better in flight.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/1/2008 1:07:36 PM)

Coming back to the fuselage I have mounted the engine to the firewall with the carburettor, I will
Be placing the servos for the Choke and throttle,

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/1/2008 1:09:48 PM)

The motor that ill be using is ZDZ80RV-J.
The Engine manufacturer has added two control horns for the throttle and choke looks good,
I need to grind of the existing arms on the carburettor.so i can place the horns supplied.

wifpwcf -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/1/2008 2:58:16 PM)

hi nice build ,i had 1 of these babys in yellow to & it was the best 3d plane flew like a 40% mono.
cheers glen

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/1/2008 6:17:41 PM)

Here are some pictures of the Carb being grinded to fit the control horns.

I had to remove the spring from the throttle horn so o could fit the the one supplied by ZDZ.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/1/2008 8:36:33 PM)

Here you can see where i have instaled the throttle and choke servos.

I am trying to place all i can to the front of the model as i am using the ZDZ80RV-J
The good thing is it weighs 1.300Kg less than the any 100 twin and with more power.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/1/2008 8:53:48 PM)

Before starting with the top frame wing support i weighed all the componets,
It weighed 175g.
Here you have some pictures of the frame.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/2/2008 5:06:55 PM)

I have instaled the a frame to the fuselage,
Seems to be prety strong here are some pictures.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/2/2008 5:32:42 PM)

I have installed the the powerexpander from Smartfly
http://www.smart-fly.com/Products/Expander/expander.htm
for me one of the best never had a problem with it.
The PowerExpander Sport Plus
Light weight, 1.9 oz (54g)
Compact design, 2.6” x 3.5”

Also added from SM Services the engine kill switch the best,
http://www.smservices.net/acatalog/Large_Model_Units.html
SM47 Engine Kill Switch
Size: width 28 mm height 20 mm depth 45 mm weight 20gms.

And the Cermark 5.2 volt 7 Amp Regulator JR
http://www.radicalrc.com/shop/?shop=1&cart=1751572&cat=86&
simple and works great.
SKU Number:CERVR5.2-7JR

And the servos used for the rudder are 2 X JR8411
Recever JR PCMS NER649-10 channel

Ill be using li-po for the power supply.

wifpwcf -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/3/2008 2:33:20 PM)

nice work,,,love the ultis
cg

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/10/2008 11:19:40 AM)

Adding to the fuselage i have intalled the Elevator servos close to the rudder servos so it will help me with the CG.

I have used carbon fiber tubes for the controls this will reduce wieght and not performance.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/10/2008 11:35:03 AM)

Well i am trying my best to make this model fly with the ZDZ80RV-J,
Here you have the picture of the 80 with a home made exaust i think its quite the thing,
It has been made by a evey good friend of mine Mr Hores and the designs made by Mr Richard.
Thanks to all for helping out.

You can also see on the picture the drawing on the cowl,all i had to remove to claer the
Engine and exaust.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/10/2008 11:49:50 AM)

Coming back the fuselage.

I have wieghed the top decking where the pilot is positioned and it wieghed over 300g,
as this is behined the CG i decided to remove a bit of wieght from the decking.
After removing the balsa from the bottom part, I reoved the foam,
I did this by using Fuel i had in my fuelcan. the fuel eats away the foam this will help you and
you will not have foam every where wich i hate.

I ended up with 190g in wieght, i have lost 110g in total i thing i have done quite good i mite add.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/10/2008 11:57:00 AM)

I wieghed all the rest of the items

All 4 wings

Wing struts

tail plane and elevators

Rudder and Fin

All a total wieght of 4K 600g

chuck l -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/10/2008 1:33:36 PM)

I could see it in the pictures, but did you pin the firewall to the side brackets? If not, you really should.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/10/2008 6:22:57 PM)

Well i have not yet finished with the firewall,

I still have to add the balsa strips in all corner and finnish up the boxing of the Engine box.

And after that i will be covering it all up with fiberglass epoxy.

Francis L M -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/10/2008 6:32:43 PM)

I have pre wieghed my Ultimate fully asembled and she weighs 9.9kg

I am quite happy.
I only need to finnish the covering and decoration,
Also at precent she is balancing ok no added wieght up front with the ZDZ80.

Cant wait to see her finished.

Thunderbolt47 -> RE: World Models 33% Ultimate (5/11/2008 5:20:04 AM)

9.9 kg!!! Holy cow!!! BTW, how much is 9.9kg[:D]
