Status: offline 		I'm looking for a good battey cycler and charger. How fast will this charge an 1800 NI-MH pack? What are the pro's & con's on this cycler? Anything out there any better for about the same price or less than $100.00?

This cycler has two charge rates 50 and 150mA, so at the 150mA rate you would charge an 1800mAh pack for at least 16 hours, this is not a peak detecting fast charger, strictly for overnite C/10 charging. Ditto for the $62.00 Hobbico Accucycle. I use the old Ace Digipace II, basically the same setup[)] work fine and last a long time

Status: offline 		The Accucycle Elite will do it all, but it does go for 130 bucks.
You also could consider a combo of the cycler/overnite charger and an inexpensive fast field charger such as the Hobbico quick field charger.
BTW, the H9 cycler is strictly A/C input, the Accucycle Elite I mentioned is a 12Vdc input, so you would need a power supply to run it.

120Vac available at your tables, neat I like that, it would reduce the need for the jumper cables we use at our field when the inevitable happens and someones car won't start

Status: offline 		Zippy,The Sure Cycle is great as a battery cycler.(Ask Mike Williams,He has one and will probably let You try it out).
It's a simple unit,and it's easy("simple" ) to use!It offers 2 charge rates to accomodate large receiver packs,and reversible polarity for JR/Spektrum transmitters.Everything You need in a "Cycler/Tester".

Fast charge rates shouldn't be a concern in a cycler.Battery cycling(Whether for testing,or "Equalizing" a pack)is a slow process.The Slow "Overnight" charge is part of the process,and fast charging just won't get the job done.

Having 1 unit for all your battery needs sounds appealing.But putting everything in 1 box means either compromising on performance,or on price.Fast charging doesn't make a better cycler,and a cycler is no use "at the field".
So,I highly reccomend the Sure Cycle! And I reccomend a seperate "Fast Charger" for "at the Field" use.Whether the Field charger is 120 volt,or you use a seperate "Power Supply" is irrelevant.(I think there is a converted computer power supply available at the field anyway).Hope this helps, Jeff K.

Y'know until you mentioned the 120Vac at your field I was thinking you were dealing with receiver packs, but if you are into E-flight that's a whole nuther issue, there you will need the fast peak detecting charger.
One point I missed when referring to the Accu cycle Elite, this charger while a little over your budget is a very flexible unit and it is ac/dc, it comes with a "brick" type power supply, so you could run this one directly off ac at the field.
