As for the vote, I voted in the following order: Mugen HPI, Traxxas, & Losi (all eqivalent to me at this level) CEN Xray (even though these are European, not American made) Serpent Associated I chose Mugen as #1 because I have yet to come across any other RC that has the quality and attention to design details as these RCs. These RCs aer made to very strict and exacting Japanese standards and quality and I personally have yet to hear about any Mugen users having to call Mugen customer support for any manufaturing defects. (I take that back, I knew a guy who is natorious for taking ANYTHING back to try to get some money out of it even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with the poduct.) I chose HPI Traxxas & Losi equally as #2, these are the meat and potatoes of my RC hobby. Though I own mostly HPI stuff, I have crossed parts from Losi and Traxxas onto some HPI stuff and the other way around also. These are good quality products for such very massivly produced products. I chose CEN as #3 because their Nemesis/Genesis MT has to be the toughest production MT on the market. This truck lives up to serious bashing conditions that even an HPI Savage would be limping from. I have not messed with a Matix or their on-road stuff, so I cannot speak for those. As for Xray, #4, and Serpent #5. Now, these vehicles are probably better quality than HPI, Traxxas, Losi, but parts support for them are so rare that I would definitely take Mugen if I were to chose vehicles for pure quality standards. I chose Associated as #5 because it is a decent company to buy your first RC from to get into the hobby. Though it is not as cheap as the chinese cloone stuff, Associated does offer beginner RCs that are cheaper than HPI, Traxxas, & Losi. The only thing I dont like about Associated is that they use inches instead of metric. So, crossing Associated parts with parts form HPI and Traxxas for example, is not very posible without haviong to retap the holes for metric and replaceing some or all of the screws and bolts with metric ones.
