gisi -> How much power drain from 12V battery. (5/1/2008 4:14:19 PM)

Hi folks.
I have a 12V, 9A field battery with a Hobbico Field charger.

Now, if I'm charging my TX battery which is 9.6V, 2Ah from empty state (Voltage around 9.0V) at 0.6A, how much power would that drain from my field battery?

600mha - da?
which mean 0.6A per hour
if you pwer supply is a 12v/9000mha and u use only 600mha out of the 9000mha...

so P(watts)= I*V-> 9.6*2000=19200mw-> 19.2w->1.92Kw OK-> this your batt power.

the hobbico have an integrated ciruit that reduces the 12 input the output you need: 4.8 69.6 and so on

bottom line

kirchof electrical law says: any curreny that goes into a "cosumer" is going out the same amount
meaning that if you "demand" via the hobbico 600mha - this is what is going out from the 12v batt, give or take a few mV that are been spread over the hobbico inner circuit itself

Thanks, good answer!

About 20 watt-hours. The battery has about 100 watt-hours available.

How do you calculate that?

the main 12v is usualy a 5-7amps
so : p=iv
p=12*7000mA->84000mW->84W->o.84Kw
but you drain only 0.6Amps
so:
12*600->7200mW->7.2W

i wish it was 600W per hour:)

than you could lite all LA with 10000 batteries - and no more energy crisses

What Red said, your battery that you are charging is closer to 10 volts average and you need to put in 2000 mah or 2 amps. times 1 hour (assuming you are charging at 2 amperes). 2 amps times 10 volts = 20 watts. Also, you will have only about an 80% efficiency so really you are using more like 25 watts out of the available 106 in a fully charged field battery.

Would it be allright for me to charge the field battery whilst charging tx and rx with the field charger?

The charger for my field battery delivers about 1 amps, the field charger charges both tx and rx with 0,3 amps.
