Hi all, i have bought an F20 which was already built and unflown. I have noticed that there is a larger amount of dihedral than needed i think. There is about 1" at the wing tips on a flat surface. Can anybody tell me what it should be please. Cheers guys

With the model placed on a flat table, I measured my dihedral at 3/4" at the bottom of the leading edge tip. If you have 1", it's a bit more but the jet should fly fine.

The HET-RC F-20 is one of their best imho and from what I have read, a much better kit than the "other" F-20 that people have been purchasing at the bargain price. Unlike the other model, all of the problems were worked out, analyzed and addressed before production manufacuring began and the mfgr included all the recommended changes I gave them after constructing the first production model. Moreover, the decals are true scale, something I did for them on the side and the model is one of their best fliers. Its larger size, coupled with a good power plant make for a solid jet model. Moreover, a second article was made showing how to convert the model to air retracts. Realize that I am in no way affiliated with the manufacurer I am just another flier that builds the HET-RC models and creates a step-by-step photo construction manual for each of them that is given to Markos at www.warbirds-rc.com and these assembly manuals are posted on his site to assist other fliers with building their models. Carl - we believe you we believe you! Hehehehee ... I saw one fly a few weeks back, she looks steady. Not that fast on a 4S but she looks steady alright, seems to fly very nicely. :)

Ditto on what Carl said. This is a good solid jet model. I built mine with fixed gear and it was a nice plane. Next one I build will be the red one. No more grey[&o] planes for me!

Thanks for the info guys. Carl you are an inspiration...the type of help that you explained takes a lot of effort and is what makes this hobby special. I have not looked at said article but I have this thread bookmarked and will reference it when I need it. I have recently moved close to a club that has an model concrete airstrip. It is not giant but pretty big if you touch down at the start of it. Anyway I am definatly planning retracts and I have read of guys glassing the wings. I was also thinking about brakes. I dont want the plane to runoff and rip the gear out. How slow does the plane land? Is glassing the wings worth the added weight? Would brakes be a nice? Is there a premanufactured brake system for the small retracts? Regards, D

The F-20 is a great flying model. I dont know what you consider fast but on 4S we had mine on the radar gun at 108 Mph coming out of a shallow dive. This is with a mini-fan 480 and a 2w20. My airplane is all stock build and theres no need to glass anything. I did throw a little bit of glass on my wing roots due to me coming in too slow for a landing during gusty wind conditions and ripping a wing off during the stall into high grass that came about when the wind suddenly stopped blowing. Good plane and I cant say that there is much better out there in this price range for what you get. Harry

Hi Guys, im thinking that a hand launch should be easy with this model after flying the F18 with similar wing area. Anybody had success with it? Cheers steve

While some have successfully done it and will swear by it, I personally do not hand launch this model. I have seen too many hand launches start out great and after their third or fourth launch, something goes awry, due to a bad toss or release. Also, this model is much different than the FA-18 as it is larger has a different wing design with much different flight characteristics and less lifting surfaces and is heavier than the FA-18. I hand launch park fliers and this is not a park flier, nor should you ever consider flying it in one. I would stick to the bungee as it is the most reliable method of getting EDF's airborne. I prefer the dolly bungee over ramps, rails and other setups for its ease to set up, simplicity to operate and positive AOA it gives the model to aid with take offs.
