Here we will post a build log of our new project: KB-3 Chuchuliga in 1:6 scale. Wingspan is 75,7 inches, power OS FX 1.60. This is group build project, the model will be designed and build by me and my friend Ivan Cankov - jcankur.
The airplane that we are going to make model of is manufactured under license in Bulgaria in 1937-1938. Original is Caproni CA-113, but a lots of modifications was added in Bulgaria to the design of original airplane. Here is a little info about the airplane: Wingspan: 11.54 m (38.46 ft) Length: 8.73 m (29.1 ft) Hight: 3.22 m (10.73 ft) Wing surface: 31.87 m2 (343.05 sq ft) Weight of the empty airplane: 1070 kg (2358 Lb) Weight at take off: 1480 kg (3262 Lb) Engine 1 Walter-Castor II Power, 1 х 340 HP Maximal speed: 232 km/h (144 mph) Cruising speed: 180 km/h (111 mph)
Scale that we decided to go is 1:6 witch gives us: Wingspan: 1923 мм (75.7 inches) Length: 1455 мм (57.3 inches) Wing surface: 88,5 кв. дм. (1372 sq inches) Dry weight: 6200 грама (13.7 Lb) Wing loading (projected): 70 gr./sq. dm. (23.0 oz/sq. ft) Engine: O.S. 1.60FX

After few months of research, and drawing, we came up with the set of plans. All parts where placed on appropriate size materials and files send to Charlie from Manzano Laser for cutting.

Thanks! I really hope to be good build. Really appreciate rare birds, some of them are almost unknown, even though may have great flying capabilities. I have serious amount of this type birds on my wish list. Here is templates for laminating wingtips and stabilizers. Now we just have to wait for other parts to arrive so the fun can start!

I look forward to seeing the progress you make on this airplane. I perfer rare aircraft in my own scratch building. Too many ARFs at the flying field now days!

Here is parts removed from the sheets, and some dry fit before actual building begin. It seems that all is well, everything fit perfectly so far. No glue have been involved yet.
