A bad pack may only be bad because it has lost 1 or 2 cells out of the 15. That is why you disassemble the pack and test the cells individually. -I agree, it is cheaper to replace the cells in drill packs than to buy a new brand X one at the hardware store. You will also end up with a better battery this way if you use quality RC cells.
