dvzuid -> Q500 landing gear question (5/2/2008 4:16:36 PM) Does anyone know the difference between a swept back landing gear opposed to a straight one. I heard one handles grass better. Is this true or just rumours, and if true which one is better foe grass ?

garys -> RE: Q500 landing gear question (5/2/2008 4:48:59 PM) It depends on the particular airplane. Some need them swept back, others don't. The important factor is the location of the wheels relative to the CG.

bigtrev@xtra.co.nz -> RE: Q500 landing gear question (5/3/2008 12:10:53 AM) An interesting subject- in my days of control line teamrace for landing on tarmac the undercarriage was positioned back towards/ almost at the CG, and for grass quite the opposite, however as Gary says it can be determined by the model design. If the model does bounce on landing then I would take the wheels further back. Even placing the undercarriage on backwards can have an advantageous affect..............it can also be determined by the desired landing speed. Trevor h, NZ[:D]
