My club is planning to update its very old wooden lattice pilot stations with something new like a PVC type. We also want to update the old wooden lattice spectator fence. Could you post pictures or description of what your club uses?

Sorry don't have a picture for you but out club uses PVC with the orange snow fence. We just use long spikes to secure it into position and are easy to move when mowing.

One idea I’ve seen that I wish our club had incorporated was instead of making them in a box shape, make them in a V shape. That way they can be nested together when we put stuff away for the winter.

For a spectator fence we have a chain link fence. Found it’s not very expensive when the members install it, instead of calling a fence company.

Go here ( http://www.austinrc.org/photonews.html ) to our club web site to see our setup. We use chain link fence. A few planes have gotten almost through the plastic we used in the past. Just made us uneasy. We use a short fence to keep the spectators out of the pits and a regular size in front of the pilots stations. The fence covers from end to end and is angled on the ends, with a narrow opening in the middle for the pilots to retrieve planes without having to walk around to the ends. That fence has taken a beating a couple of times and trashed a plane or two.

Thanks Mike. I see exactly how your club does it.
