Thinking about trying some glow fuel in my G62 to see if there would be a performance gain. I have some 10% Sig here with 18%, half castor, half synthetic. Should be enough oil. Should I try it out or am I wasting my time?

Nothing wrong with trying but I suspect you'll be less than pleased with the results.

There's so much oil in glow fuel that it will probably just foul the plug and never start.

Also, it takes about twice as much alcohol as gas for an engine to run right. I doubt that the carburetor has a big enough jet to flow enough fuel to run right.

I tried some in my lawn mower once, just as said before, the results were less than satisfactory. Maybe if I could have retuned the mixture, it would have been better, but at the price if Nitro VS Gas, its kinda a waste of money. Alcohol, Methanol, has less energy than gasoline.

You will damage your carburator with glow fuel the rubber parts o rings seal and gaskets.

Not true. It's been done without any problems.

It is possable to regrind the tapered needle valve on the jet to allow more fuel through. once you have the mixture correct you will see a vast improvement in power. true methanol does have a lower calorific values per gm/cc versus in gas. however you need to burn 2,4 times the amounty of gas to get the mixture correct and that is where the power comes from. With methanol you can run a lower mixture than petrol. ( not to be confused with a low oil content, lack of oil as controlled by the gas. oil mix ratio.)

if your engine is running a walbro type pumper carby, you must change over the internal diaphram as its made from a rubber product and as we know methanol loves to eat rubber. stick with petrol as it has been proven by many including myself [ ex aust speed record holder ] that methanol in these 2 stroke spark ignition engines is both a waiste of fuel costs and lower rpms acheived. the only advantage is the engine will run cooler on methanol .

If your getting lower Rpm. than you must have your engines set up wrong. next you'll say that your getting lower rpm with nitro. its all in the set up.

Some of the guys flying Old time Stunt control line are running old ignition engines, Anderson, Orwick, etc. on glow fuel. This is running on ignition, not glow.

There was a guy in Australia who converted a CRRCPro 45 gaser to methanol and he said he didn't have to touch they carby diaphram and it didn't suffer any damage even after extended use.

Do a search here and you'll probably find the details.
