so i busted a bunch of stuff the other day...one of them being my pullstart cable that was rubbing something sharp when i first got it...so it was on the way out.

whats the easiest way to remove the pullcord assembly...(hyperspeed .16 buggy) it looks like only two or three of the screws on the ass. are really easy to get at ...what should be removed to get this off?....

and has anyone replaced the cord with another ...its possible?....i used to upgrade the pulls on old dirtbikes ...i assume its much the same..just tie a knot and wrap. I have nice waxed similar gauge nylon string that would do much better than the garbage cotton shoelace that was in there.

thanks in advance

Stephen

Here are great instructions on how to rebuild a pull start. http://www.hpiracing.com/walkthroughs/psrebuild1.htm

Dude I read a thread somewhere where a guy took the cord off a set of miniblinds and used that to replace a worn pullstarter cord.

either take off the rear differential assembly or take off the motor. if you take off the motor engine make sure you draw circles around the scres on the bottom plate so you know where to position the motor when you put it back. also when you put the motor back on make sure you mesh the gears properly.
http://www.rctoysnh.com/pdf/quickstart.pdf go to page 3 for the proper meshing tecnique

LOL I stumbled on that one too...the mini blind stuff is probably the real deal too...enough nylon in it to make it a bit tougher than stock...

Richard Dean Anderson FTW for sure...lol....may solely use my swiss army Knife for the dissasemble/reasemble to keep it legit too!!!

I've fix pull starts before. Nitrorcx.com has electric starts too if you don't want to go thru the hassel. Get yourself a pointy nose plier.

whats the pointy nose plier for?....you mean instead of pulling the motor out to get the PC assembly off?

UPDATE!!!!

Tried rebuilding the pull cord assembly today (and yes i also used a mini blind string!!)...but it is not worth the cramped hands and frustration for me....the link that Ldgasp posted above was good....but it is not the same assembly at all....the exceed internals are a pain to get the coil end hooked in.....and a big enough pain in the A$$ that I will probably just order a new one or upgrade to the roto-start ...

next question....i hear Sebastian Trembly is a good parts source here in canada....does he have a site?....or do i just contact him?...

Thanks in advance
Stephen

That's why you need to pointy nose plier to the coil end hokked into the center.
