I just ran this motor for the first time (see my pictures if you want to see what it looks like) and this motor is crazy fast and smooth for a motor under $200. I collect motors and have about 20 from BOSS, CMB, FALCON, OPS, and all the popular ones so I know a good motor, and this is a good motor at any price!

It's crazy that everyone who runs this motor says the same thing. It has great power, but is extremely smooth. It actually sounds smooth. I'm running the same engine and pipe. This is the most underrated engine on the market.

For under $200 I dont care if the crank falls out. I have a 1/2 gallon of 30% in this motor and it keeps getting faster and faster, has tons of compression, runs all day at 207 to 210 degrees. I am glad you say they are junk and I hope no one else gets one then I will be the only one at the track with one and thats ok for me!

I know it was, i could have worded it better no doupt..

I have very bitter feelings towards STS motors and I feel I have more then ample reason to strongly advise people to stay away from them.......... They are a tainted fruit without question.. I agree with all of you that they can be sweet running motors with awesome performance... At one time I was selling STS motors by the dozens, modifying a whole pile as well... .21's, 28's and 30's....... At first all seemed great, the motors were solid and ran awesome.. But every time I ordered a batch of motors I started to see they were extremely inconsistent engines, with no 2 batches being the same... some cranks had 1 turbo scoop, others had 2 and some had 3... at one point it seemed as if the turbo scoops were put just any old place they would fit .. Some motors pistons were so looose the motor would not run, then other motors the piston is so tight the motor needs 3 gallons to break in.... Then all of a sudden people's motors started falling apart, dozens of motors failing, stock or modified the cranks just feel apart...... Management at STS could not give 2 poops either.........They just kept on sending out junk, throttle pulls guaranteed to strip, 50/50 chance of crank failure, 50/50 chance of poor piston fit, 50/50 bearing failure..... I ended up having to re-modify so dam many STS motors it makes me sick to my stomach....It didn't matter if the failures were my fault or not ( which they weren't) I would still re-modify the warranty replacement engines............. STS are junk, they are poorly designed and the company behind STS couldn't care less about the product and service they provide... Low buck Asian company preying off those who know no better............. for the $50.00 you save buying a STS its seriously not worth the fuel to break them in.... In all honsesty buy a Picco for $200.00 and you have a much superiro engine in all aspects A Picco will beat a STS every single time in every single way you can compare them other then price.....If buying some Taiwanese crap motor to save $50.00 is worth it to you then all the power to you...but I have walked the STS road much longer and much more in depth then any of you have, and I suggest strongly to stay clear !!!

Supertib,

I hope Picco is paying you for all the "press" you give them on this site. I could care less what you or anyone else thinks about STS. They work for me and that is all that matters. So could you please not post your negative comments on every STS thread. Everyone knows your feelings on STS engines. Let it go and move on. PLEASE.

for $200.00 nothing touches a Picco, if you werent so stubborn maybe you would open your mind and try one.......... but I guess since I like Picco you cannot own one.......... so have fun with STS, just dont come crying when the cranks start snapping

I have had nothing but problems with the picco's I have had however you don't see everypost I put up bad mouthing them. I also had a crank pin break on a sts. You have your oppinion and thats all it is your oppinion. Though STS may not be the best built motor picco still has their problems also. What you like is fine but because someone else likes a product you don't you seem to feel that it's your job to bash that product. Just relax about STS because your not going to stop them from selling them and your oppinion is not going to stop people from buying them. So now you can bad mouth me all you want because my oppinion does not match yours. Have fun.

We've sold hundreds of STS Engines over the last couple years and have had very few problems with them, no more than we've had with Picco, OS, RB and Nova's. It may have been more of an issue prior. But so were Picco's carbs, OS's conrod's. So when you find me the perfect engine under $200.00 post it here, otherwise get your facts straight about STS's current lineup.

I have sold over $25000.00 worth of the STS motors... I have also modified close to 50 of things as well ( if not more) ... I have also had several of them dynoed on a X-Dyno.......I have also tested different batches to see hardness on crank........ I also know the timing profiles of each of the model........ M
My opinion on STS is founded and fair, I have seen first hand the crap STS sends out and their crappy customer service in action.......... Racernine lleft STS for this reason as well...he was tired of having to constantly warranty motors.....

Dude I dont need to badmouth you, this is not personal in any way..Go ahead express your opinion as its your right to do so...Just like its my right to express my opions and my reasons for these opinions, i will however continue badmouthing STS as they have earned any criticism i place on them .STS are dirtt cheap for a reason, and like everything else you get what you pay for........ in STS's case you get $130.00 motor for $130.00 , they are not a $300.00 engine your getting for $130.00...they are priced about right for what your getting, they are far from being some great value or anything like that....... they are a cheaply built mediocre performing Taiwanese engine available for dirt cheap... There are many other brands that offer alot more motor for not much more money...

Does everyone here need to see all the pictures of people's broken STS motors to understand how many of these motors blew up ? i will track down some of the pictures and post them up for everyone.

No one person's experience carries any less weight than anothers. Please, lets keep the personal digs out when clarifying our experiences.

I had an STS, and after about 1.5-2 gallons the crank pin sheared off. I never gave it another thought and went out and bought a different engine. No biggie. And I've seen lots of pics from users here that had the same experience. Yet, there are obviously lots of users that haven't had any problems. I don't consider the few people on RCU to be a world-wide trend on either end of the spectrum - there just aren't enough people to make up a large enough percentage of STS owners to make that claim. However, everyone's experience is important and we can all garner a small piece of knowledge from them.

Thanks,
Rob
