YHR -> Update Stug III F (5/3/2008 8:33:07 AM)

I got all the peices together. The Panzer III from Mato with metal upgrades, the metal suspension, wheels and stug gearbox from Pugwash and some styrene.

I think Heng long must be planning on a Stug. This thing has removable side panels that I popped off with a screw driver , prior to adding the styrene sides for the stug.

Here are a few pictures to show you what Ihave done so far.

nice job YHR
In your hands I'm certain it will be a top build[:D][:D][:D]

Nice, I'm going to a Stug III D based on the PZIII H like yours. Have many of the parts already, just waiting for the tank!

Will your gun be fixed in place or will it move side to side and up and down?

YHR -> RE: Stug III F (5/3/2008 6:08:26 PM)

I am planning on a elevating gun bbl, some movement side to side will be present due to the mechanics of the rotating heng Long cam design. THis however will not be controlled and will just be a fact of the mechanics of the bbl riding along the rotating cam. I experienced this with my Stug IV. Looks cool to people watching, so I left the slop in. I could have tightened up the assembly, but because these guns did actually have a little lateral movement I left it in.

My poor tolerances in design resulted in a side benefit!!!!!!

Looking good so far Pal...Are you going to having a tweak to those rollers as well.

Nick.

YHR -> RE: Stug III F (5/6/2008 6:02:42 AM)

I got the basic superstructure done and gave it a blast of "hammered steel" I opened up both rear hatches for batterying charging and on-off switch.

Gun elevation is installed and working.

Now time to work on the chassis installing all those metal upgrades I bought.

YHR -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/11/2008 4:23:50 PM)

With the superstructure basically done I have turned my focus to adding the metal upgrade suspension pieces. I really like the mass they add to the tank.

blitzkrieg65 -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/11/2008 4:30:30 PM)

YHR,,

Sweet, all metal, I bet that is going to drive nice and heavy, it will probably even rock forward when you hard break with the momentum turned on with the DBC![;)]

Noticed all your nice little hinges for the doors. [:D] Did you fabricate them yourselves, or get it from somewhere?

astroboycp -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/12/2008 3:46:13 AM)

So did you put a DBC or Elmod into your stug?

YHR -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/12/2008 4:37:10 AM)

I cut down nylon hinges used for RC aircraft.

This unit is still in it stripped stage, Right now there is nothing in it. This will have a DBC installed after I have finished painting it. I have the stug gearboxes to drop in as well so I am hoping it is a good runner.

astroboycp -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/12/2008 9:14:10 AM)

Yes I think the tank will run great.

YHR -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/15/2008 2:18:22 AM)

Got all the stock electronics back in along with the Stug gear boxes.

Here are some of the latest pictures.

kclank -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/15/2008 2:31:00 AM)

Any video[:D]

astroboycp -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/15/2008 2:48:25 AM)

Did you make the barrel recoil?

YHR -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/15/2008 6:49:27 AM)

More items added.

herrmill -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/15/2008 9:08:19 AM)

Looks very nice. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the conversion cost over the host tank?

swathdiver -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/15/2008 11:18:14 AM)

Does anyone know if those sprockets that come with the metal/rubber wheel kit are compatible with Impact Tracks? [:-]

YHR -> RE: Update Stug III F (5/15/2008 2:04:53 PM)

Astroboy

The gun does not recoil .............yet. Someone posted a link to a new recoil assembly available. I may look at that.

Herrmill

Tank CW with metal tracks $145
Metal wheels and suspension $158
Low profile gear box $ 80
A couple of sheets of Evergreen styrene. $ 5

Total $388

I think that is about it so far. It will receive one of Darkiths new DBC's once they are available. Then My Tamiya Sherman and this Stug will go with the 2.4 GHZ radio I bought.
