Went for a bashing session today at the mountains with the new Ener-G 6-cell packs I recently made. After the first session, on one of the packs, the end cell that the positive lead is soldered on to was hotter than the others and I could hear a hissing sound from it and possibly popping/clicking.
Does this mean it's dead? Should I try to charge it?
I hope it's not dead as I don't have another cell to replace it with and really don't want to have to open up the pack (I shrunk wrap it). The hissing went away as I let it the pack cool.
The other 3 EnerG packs didn't have any problems. I did notice some discoloration around some of the cells in each pack where some remaining flux that I didn't clean off started to flow again (at least I think it's flux). The liquid didn't only come from the cell that was hissing, but on other cells in other packs that didn't have any problems. The packs had a lot of punch and runtime.

Also, since there's a hole in the shrink wrap for the leads to come out, sand and really small rocks got inside the pack. Is this bad? Nothing in there is large enough to short the cells inside to one another, but not sure what having sand in the packs would do.

Thanks for the help!

Uh...

Hissing packs are venting. That's bad. Reallllllllly bad. As in, if it were mine, I'd throw the pack away and be grateful I didn't burn myself or my equipment.

At the VERY least, the bad cell needs to be replaced.
