adx87 -> Autonomous Helicopter (5/4/2008 5:08:20 AM)

Hello, My name is Derek. I am currently in the process of getting my Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. I want to take an RC helicopter and make is fly autonomously. I was wondering if anyone could send me their opinions, ideas, or specific helicopter specifications(particularly lifting power for the extra components I will be putting on the heli). Any input on what kind of helicopter I should buy? I have been looking into the Esky belt-CP or the exceed G2. I would really appreciate the help.
Thank You

Hey Derek,

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. Here are some links which should help (or confuse... :) )

Gridswarm & UltraSwarm
Cheap Robotic Microhelicopter
Robotic quadcopter
Autonomous stabilization system for a helicopter

A college near where I live has a "branch" specifically about autonomous heli's research. I've been there and seen all the heli's in the pictures[X(] and heard them talk about the purposes and about the helicopters specific tasks and so forth. It was amazing. I think my second two years of college(just graduated HS) I might join the program.
