Hello, My name is Derek. I am currently in the process of getting my Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. I want to take an RC helicopter and make is fly autonomously. I was wondering if anyone could send me their opinions, ideas, or specific helicopter specifications(particularly lifting power for the extra components I will be putting on the heli). Any input on what kind of helicopter I should buy? I have been looking into the Esky belt-CP or the exceed G2. I would really appreciate the help.
Thank You

Hey Derek,

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. Here are some links which should help (or confuse... )

Gridswarm & UltraSwarm
Cheap Robotic Microhelicopter
Robotic quadcopter
Autonomous stabilization system for a helicopter

A college near where I live has a "branch" specifically about autonomous heli's research. I've been there and seen all the heli's in the pictures and heard them talk about the purposes and about the helicopters specific tasks and so forth. It was amazing. I think my second two years of college(just graduated HS) I might join the program.
