Vic, The wing stickers and the whole system with the computer, printer, and software is a little more work to get set up. But not having to identify planes and people knowing what to do based on the wing stickers really pays off with ease of identification for the course workers. The only problem I have with it is that I need a speedier printer. The inkjet just takes a little while to produce output. I'm not ready to take my color laser printer out ... yet. Everyone liked the light system and the lap counting cards. A big THANK YOU to James Barr for bringing that equipment to the race from Greenville, SC. The most impressive comment I heard over and over after the race was how close the Club 40 racing was. Quite a few people really liked the closeness of the Club 40 racing. The planes handled the grass better than the Quickies, plus the pilots handled the planes better. Even the guys that flew Quickie 25 and 424 only are ready to get their Club 40 planes in the air. I appreciate your comment about running a mix throughout the day. I got that idea from Humpy and the Legends and Bandolero races I have been to. We ran four rounds total. We ran 2 rounds of each class and Matthew entered the finishing positions and times. Then we announced the standings. A number of people wanted to get their times. So the first 2 rounds kind of like were qualifying, with the last 2 being the finish. Next time we will print out and post the standings after 2 rounds. Course workers is the biggest issue from a CD standpoint. I need to explore what James was going to do with help from a high school group. I think the wing stickers makes that more doable. I feel better than ever about racing in this area. The pylon parties were fun. the June 14 race at LMS was a start. But this race felt like we had things right. I think people will attend the next race unless they have a scheduling conflict. And I think we will have even more entries at the next race.
