i was running the fg with marder gearing and monster wheels (forgot lol oops) and after lots of jumps and probably landing with the throttle on a bit much it started reving but not turning the wheels, im pretty sure its the clutch but i thought id ask if theres anything else it could be? also where is the clutch and how do i tighten it? im hoping thats all it needs rather than anything replacing.. has anyone else had the same problem?

Thanks

Double check all your Grub screws and "MAKE" sure there on the flats of the shafts and loctite them , the wheel squares ,the pinions and layshaft gears , check meshing with diff and layshaft

sounds like you all busted up ya buggy

clutch is on the opposite side of the pull start of ya motor, where all the pinion gear spur gear etc is...... start by turning ya clutchbell by hand (if you can get to it) and see what isnt turning........ if everything turns, then yes youve done a clutch....
no biggy...same thing happened with me.... went over a hump and that was it engine reved...but no go. ive done a small vid on repairing a clutch . its for an hpi baja but the same rules apply

Could be, you've busted the stem off of the clutch bell. This has happened to me twice recently.

If your gears are still turning, it is not the clutch. Check your wheel squares, make sure they did not come loose. You can also check your rear tires to make sure you did not round out the squares on the rims.

i have taken it all apart and it all looks fine, only thing i can think of is the clutch pads, could that be why its turning and not engaging? everything else is absolutely fine :s however i dont know how thick the clutch pads should be so i dunno lol (the bits on the outside of the thing with the spring in, like in the baja video)

does anyone know of a good UK place to get replacements?

Thanks

yknow i think i found the problem, the inside of the spur gear was totally rounded out, im guessing that was spinning but the wheels not lol have replaced that and seems fine

Can you show us a pic of what was damaged? I don't understand how the spur 'inside' can round out...

either a stone got stuck in there on the inside of the teeth, but it would still go.
or the pinion or spur gear mount has colapes causing the teeth to jump?

I don't understand what has happened. Are you meaning to say the spur gear carrier?

Yeah, it happened to me too. The flats on the spur gear carrier burn out in the center leaving it perfectly round and spinning on the layshaft. Buy yourself an alloy spur gear carrier and you should have no more problems. While you're at it if you haven't upgraded the diff carrier from the stock plastic one make sure it is not tearing where the ring gear screws to it as this was one of the next things to go on mine.

That's crazy. I'm still running my original stock spur gear carrier. With all the problems that I've had I haven't had any with this yet.

we see that more with the monster tires more then the pin tires. must be just a bit more stress.
