Can you help me? 3 or 4 years ago I bought a walkera #4 at my LHS and when I was trying to learn how to fly it, suddenly it would go to full throttle by itself, and I could not cut the throttle with the Tx. The heli was bouncing around on the ground while broken bits flew all over the place. all trims was centered except the throttle. I never found out out why it did this, and after a couple of these incidents it was a total wreck. I decided to buy me another #4 and use the broken one for parts, hoping the new one was better. But same thing happened to this one too, and I got fed up thinking I would never get it to fly and stored it in the box until recently.. I was rather disapointed because I`ve always wanted to learn to fly a helicopter, and this first bad experience kept me from starting my "career" as a pilot 4 years ago. But recently I bougt some coaxials (5#6/5g6), and after a while I wanted to try FP again and bought a new reciever, super-skids and tailboom for my #4 and thinking it was going to be fun. Well I`m not having fun because what happens is that I`m barely getting 1feet of the ground, maybe because of old/damaged batteries, and suddenly out of the blue its on full throttle like before, without any damages so far (because of the stronger superskids possibly). This was with a brand new reciever! Why does this happen? And why does it seem like the battery are bad while hovering, but when it suddenly goes out of control it is very powerfull, rotating the blades very fast? that could mean the battery is ok, and there is something else thats making it acting crazy.Could it be the transmitter? crystals? It cant be the reciever..cause its the 3d one I`ve tried and its brand new..If you have any suggestions, tips or answers I will be very happy! thnx Tom Erik

Tom where are you flying to start with?

If you have changed the RX it could be interferance from something that is within rage on the frequency that you are using.

You mentioned that you bought another heli did you get another TX with this? If so is it on the same frequency as the TX that you are using?

Where is the antenna cable routed, keep it away from the motor and try not to wrap it around anything if possible.

Let me know how you go with the above and some more information would help troubleshooting.

Thanks

Brett

Hi Brett. Thanks for trying to help me. With my reassembled heli Im trying to fly inside my house and outside in my driveway, but I stopped trying to fly it now untill I know how to stop it from going crazy. With my 2 first helis I tried to fly on different locations and it always acted up on me. One thing I forgot to mention is that when it suddenly takes off by itself, I lose control over the servos too.

When I bought my secound heli it came with a similar transmitter with the same frequency, 35.120 mhz, and when I decided to rebuild a heli from the 2 heli wrecks, the reciever did not work. The first one I put on a plane some years ago, and it worked ok until I crashed and it burnt up. The secound reciever made the tailrotor spin around fast constantly, and the main motor barely turned counter clocwise very slowly, so I recently bought a new 3d reciever.

The antenna is now routed down to the landinggear(not the skids)and goes back to the wing on the tailboom where it ends up in a bundle. It is not close to the motor .The 2 first helis had the antenna cable wrapped around one of the skids. I`ll try to change the route to see if it helps.

thanks Tom Erik

so I recently bought a new 3d reciever.

Hi Tom,

When you say you just purchased a new 3d receiver have you changed the Tx also? Most of the Walkera eletrics will only work with other Walkera electrics not anything else.

In most circumstances the antenna should not cross itself.

Can you post some pics of your Rx, Tx (unless it is stock) and of the antenna routing.

If you leave the heli on a bench powered up does it twitch at all or just in flight?

Thanks

Brett

Hi Brett. I tried using a 7.4V 1000mah lipo on my heli today and guess what, it flies like a charm. Guess the two stock batteries I was using are to old. Only problem is the lipo is much lighter than the stock battery, but I added some weight to get the CG right. I think I`ll order a lipo from eastcoasthobbies. It will be cheaper to order a lipo from there than to buy a stock battery here in Norway. Do you work at eastcoasthobbies by the way?
