What do I need? Is there a controller and cable or just a cable and use my own controller for laptop. confused.

I got a cable off of ebay over a year ago that works great with my futaba 6ex. I think I will work with about any program out there, my computer seems to recognize it as a normal game controller.

I've used most of the sims out there with the exception of absolutely free sims and reflex. If you are into helis and you want a great sim at a great price, there is only one option IMO. Phoenix.

phoenix-sim.com

You use your own transmitter and they supply a cable/dongle and the software. Product updates and new models can be downloaded from the website.

I've used G3.5 a bunch and for the first time last week, I spent an hour or so trying out G4. Still pretty disappointing in my book, there may be more training and things of that nature but I put more emphasis on the physics and for that I think phoenix wins hands down.

Phoenix is also not such a resource hog, I run it on my desktop and a laptop. The laptop is about 6 months old, one of those 700 dollar hp's. Not the highest performing computer but it runs phoenix great.

If you have your own tx, phoenix is the way to go. Does planes and all that jazz as well if you play with that stuff.

cost about 150 or so and is worth every penny.

I waited the longest time before buying a sim and could actually fly helis before ever getting one but I regret waiting on phoenix because it really is that good imo.
