Any suggestions for a good computer tank battle game? They were brought up a while back, but I can't find the thread...

I posted yesterday or so in the War Room. You can download a demo of T34 vs Tiger, it's due for release later this year. Pretty cool game

How about Company of Heroes for RTS?

Surprised that no one mention it.

Personally, if you're into WWII, I'd get good ol Battlefield 1942. It's about 5 years old now but it should run very smooth (with all the graphics turned up) on a newer PC. You can get it and the expansions (Road to Rome and Secret Weapons) for about $20 now. There are also some fan mods (like "Forgotten Hope" that make it even more realistic.

There's even an old WWI mod that's pretty fun to play.

Anyhow... that's my pic if you want to jump into Tanks, Planes, Ships, etc.

I'd been playing Forgotten Hope 2, which is a WWII Desert warfare mod for Battlefield 2. It looks great, heres some ingame shots using the F-2

Hmm.... I would have to say that PANZER ELITE was a good game, back in the day. Doesnt run very good on newer PC's though and finding it could be rough. Sudden Strike II was a cool game but more a RTS as opposed to a SIMULATION.

This one looks promising though.

I have to second ANZAC's recommendation. RO-Ost Front is a very good multi-player game, especially with all the Germans & Russians that get online to play.

Haven't tried the Battlefield '42 WWI mod, though. Have to check that out, but I'd be afraid of falling into a trench & then getting gassed!

my favourite is the operation flash point gold edition came out in 2003. I am still [playing it with net working. Best about this game is you can create your own army groups..up to 200 man or more -untill cpu crash. I playe dwith friends and we both have 120 men on each side. Who ever gets the highest kill or survied is the winner.
The mission editing program is part of the game, you are able to create your army groups over a size of 100kmX100km maps. thats huge..so far with the new games, I have not found one can match this freedomness.

These days, with cpu 5600. its a beatuty for this massive battle field effects, imagine you have 120 plus men running up the beach beside you attcking enemies on the other side-upper hill. Its awesome

I think for a tank orientated strategy game "Battle of the Bulge 1944" is the best game!!!!

Wow! Thanks for all the replies. I'm running Windows Vista now and my old games don't work. A lot of good suggestions - hopefully some will work.

Thanks
Ernie

Run them in compatibility mode (right click the exe, goto properties/compatibility and choose which operating system you wish the game to think you're running)
