Status: offline 		Just thought I'd post up the awesome deal I got this weekend, and this seemed to be the most relevant fourm...

I purchased a HP 650C DesignJet Plotter for $10! A 36" plotter with new ink installed and 4 brand new extra cartidges. I plan to use this to print plans for my own designs. I also have a bunch of RC Flyer free plans I have scanned to .PDF... Oh the possibilities!

Status: offline 		ten bucks?? I paid 900.00 for a used 450c 24" plotter for my drafting business, yeah you stole it. congrates, it is alot of fun printing out plans, also changing scales is easy also to get differnt sized planes, have fun!!!

Status: offline 		You can also use it to lay out all your parts on balsa sheets. Cut out the printed part and stick it to the balsa with some weak glue. and cut out the parts you need, then peel off the paper.

Status: offline 		I saw an ad on Craig's List first thing Friday moring for this and the price shown was $10.... It had only posted about a half hour ealier so I emailed the guy thinking it was a typo, but it turned out to be correct. His company had just purchased a newer, larger model and he just wanted it to go to someone who would use it. So, I got it at a steal of a deal, the new ink alone is worth over $100. I have it temporarily set up in the garage (gotta make space in the hobby room) but cannot do much other than a test sheet until I have the Serial-USB adaptor to use this with my laptop. I thought about doing the alignment program, but I would only have to do it again once it is in it's final place so why waste the ink... I work with plotters and large format copiers quite often at work, but not until seeing this one in my garage did I really notice just how big big and heavy these plotters are.

Status: offline 		If not familiar, the H-P 650c is noted on the standard windows drivers list that comes when you purchase M-S Windows onna disk. Just do the standard Install, printer routine. The H-P also has a reversed plug set for Raster operations. Cannot use the standard $1 variety types.

Even at 10X that rate, you got a good deal.

There is a possibility of all the functions of the printer not working with an adapter. I have ran into this in the past (computer tech). Buy a PCI card that will fit the printer (LPT card). It will probably be cheaper than an adapter anyway.

Status: offline 		I was actually wondering about the LTP card slot.... Is this used for network connections?
I know computers fairly well and use plotters all the time, but I have never had to deal with the network / computer connections before.

If it has a parallel port (couple inches wide, many pins) and your computer is new enough, you will have to get a LPT card (PCI type) and install that and it's drivers on your computer. I have seen PLOTTERS that require both an LPT and a serial port to be plugged in to. What are the outputs on the printer?

I just got home to look at the plotter... It has the open Interface Card slot, Serial port (RS-232-C), and a Parallel port. I'm going to look more into the manuals this evening and see what else I can learn.

Status: offline 		I have still not had the chance to test this with the USB adaptor... I did however get some papre to atleast do a print test with it, and it apperars to work flawlessly.
