In a rush during my lunch hour, I bought the Heli blend when I should have bought the 4-stroke blend.

On the Cool Power Blends website, the two blends have the same numbers. That is:

Blend .................. Nitro Lube Viscosity
15% (standard Heli) 15% 17% Ultra-High
4-Stroke (standard) 15% 17% Ultra-High

The questions are... Is there actually any difference in the two blends? Can I use the Heli blend on my 4-stroke airplane engine? Or should I go back to the LHS and exchange the Heli blend for the 4-stroke blend.

Thanks,
Juice

I wouldn't use either in a 4-stroke that I liked.

They use a fully-synthetic package of relatively low-tech oil.

This means you run the risk of bearing corrosion/failure and higher wear levels than you'd get with a more suitable fuel.

If you value your 4-stroke engine, look for a fuel that has at least a small (3%-4%) of castor in it and preferably a hi-tech synthetic such as one of the European brands (Motul, Aerosynth/Aerosave, etc) or (in the USA) Coopers.

Your 4-stroke will run just fine on Coolpower fuels and indeed many people use Coolpower without any problems but there are a *lot* of folks who have discovered that this stuff will not protect your bearings, lifters or camshaft anywhere near as something with a better quality oil and/or a little castor in it.
