Yes We are all the same... Yet, we are called MINORITIES... ... I'm not a raciest at all, Its just very surprising to see back R/C pilots... I'm a member of a club here in St. Louis and of all the 60 to 70 members only about 5 or 6 of them are of the dark pigment... I get along fine with everyone and have not had any real problems... Ask yourself this, If you go to a club and most of the guys that are in that club are Black, and speak different, dress different, just have a different Swagger about them, wouldn't you feel a tad bit out of place? Eventually you'll get to know most of them and make friends, and once another white guy joins along with you, it will be comforting to know your not the only one... (I learned this in a magnet school mostly white)>... There are strength in numbers, where one person lacks 2 or 3 can make up for it... If you get into something and are not so sure you belong there, then another like you joins, then another... You'll feel alot more comfortable in that situation... So, this forum is not to be racist, or seperate... It's just to see who else (like me) is doing this besides me ...

I dunno dude. All the guys I fly with are black and I am the only white guy. I have not gone looking for other honkies to fly with. The guys I fly with are my buds and I don't need to seek out like raced folks.

Now, if you want to start up something like OBAP (Organization of Black Airline Pilots) to promote the hobby to those that would not normally be exposed to it, then that is a great idea.

I would bet that u have never flown with any black people and couldn't even name 3 black people that know who you are...... please if you have nothing positive to say or contribute, don't waste our time

Ok, I understand what you are saying... but I'm also not looking for other black pilots to fly with nor did I say to go out and look for other black pilots to "fly with" I said "it is comforting to know that your not the only one"... Most of the guys at my field are older White males 40-80's some retired and I'm buds with mostly all of them... I'm 25 years old, I started flying 6 or 7 months ago... If I knew more, are had someone to come and take me to the field and show me how to fly I would have started along time ago, and not waisted my time and money on other stupid things I've done... I'm going to be real right now... If you go and ask most of the black guys that I grew up with would they be interested in flying they would say that they only thought white men fly R/C planes, Read a Mag, or go to an R/C Fly in what do you see? Just like Hockey, How many black guys do you know play Pro hockey? But if you get one that is black, good are bad skills, he stands out in the crowd, commended for either being good, ridiculed for being bad, But you will know about him because he is rare!

In order to get More black men in this Hobby they first have to Know about it, Then Learn about it, Then want to do it... the person who started this forum is not fighting for civil rights for black R/C pilots, He's just trying to say, "Hey I'm a black R/C pilot, I like to fly, I know there are not many like me in this hobby right now but if your out there Who are you and What got you into the hobby"?
Then you take that and build on it, you see what made them get into it and what they got out of it and use that as a tool to jump start a new following... The R/C industry should not care What color shape or size you are long as your buying the products... So with that said if I got 10 of my Caucasian friends, 10 of my black friends, 10 of my Hispanic friends, and 10 of my Asian friends to join this hobby Who does it benefit in the end? The AMA! which in return helps us all... Right? Me as a "PERSON" OR "HUMAN" would like to see more Minorities get into this hobby as a way of getting them off the streets and on to some fields!

Insayne,
I would pick my fights and choose words wisely or they might trash this thread.... What alpapilot said was not Bad.... It was just said in ignorance....
You should welcome all to say what they will and what they think... Give them what they need....

Ignorance- is the condition of being uninformed or uneducated, lacking knowledge or information... The same way that Many black men act toward this hobby...

TJ,
He was clearly lying about flying with black people. I'm trying to do a positive thing and he was crapping on it. No need or time for ignorant people.

Alpa,

One of the reasons that I started this thread was to expose this hobby to minorities. This means that those of us that are currently in the hobby need to share ideas about efficient ways of making that happen. However I do want to apologize for my previous post. Since you fly exclusively with black guys, you have already gone quite a way to my goal. Thank you
