DJ, I wonder if I started a thread called "ex-convict RC Pilots" if it would get as much attention or even get the "awaiting approval" status on the title. Geese, people give it a break. What the guy is asking isn't "Are you racist? will you join a black revolution to overthrow the AMA?" He's just asking how many other people there are like him, African American (I'll use that to be politically correct) and flying RC airplanes. I think that if you have a passion for flying, and you do it in a way the does not endanger other people or their property, then cool, more power to you no matter who you are. Myself, most of my club members don't care that I have a criminal history from 16 years ago. They're usually more interested in that I can get a plane that is usually gas powered to fly on electric. Actually, they were really surprised when my background came up in conversation, thought I was pulling their leg. Had to pull out my prison ID that I keep in my wallet for a reminder to verify it.

Anyhow, DJ, TJ, I'm sure that you guys aren't the only two on here with extra pigment. I hope that they keep this thread open, it deserves to be here. By the way, TJ for having started 6 or 7 months ago, you do pretty well with that 540. Your cameraman ain't the greatest though.

Oh, to clarify, and not promote some misguided stereotype, I am not black. Whitebread.

STLPilot,
Thanks for helping DJ with info.
Me? Color blind. I can only see color on planes. It seems to me that DJ only wanted what he stated. Share experiences and how you got into RC flying. Leave it at that and just have fun on the thread.
If it wasn't for RCU, I would not be able to fly anything. I found a thread and learned to fly by the posters that were there. DJ just wants to chat.
Nothing wrong with that that I can see.
Good luck DJ.

You have heard fighter pilots talk about the "meatball" on the carrier deck? This is a go/no go device/light. I think it was a Sweedish invention.

Hey, are you trying to belittle Sweedish pilots?

The joy of these forums is that everyone is without color, race or religeous orientation. Unless you consider glow vs electric, or power vs. glider as religeous issues.

We are brothers of the wing, united in our love of things that fly. Any addition of race, religon or creed is like extra weight in the plane. It just drags us down and saps our energy. But I guess some people like heavy planes.

Can't we just be brothers of the wing here and leave color discussion to monokote or paint?

I kinda agree with this, But how many Swedish pilots do you know? I bet there are a lot in sweeden... I would not be offend at all if you started a forum called Swedish pilots of America! or if someone started a forum called Latin pilots of America, or female pilots of america.... Would you still think that they would be adding extra weight? or just Recognizing the weight that is there all along?

Yes, I would think they were adding weight.

As soon as you create an us vs them you create barries between people. Let such thing focus on gas vs electric and not the color of our skin. By passing out getto passes you are suggesting that all black people live in gettos. How limiting that seems to be. Why fence people in like that?

No, I owuld not like to see an "ethnic" pilots thread. Let's focus on the planes and the fun and the learning. That is what I find fun and uplifting. But that is just me.

Ed,

A ghetto pass is exactly what I stated. Yours is now revoked. Please if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute just don't post anything. I am just trying to get others like myself into the hobby. If you don't agree with this forum feel free to leave it.

I Think it was just a joke about the ghetto passes... So If a Girl got on here and started a forum about Female pilots of America you would be upset? I also think girls should feel comfortable Flying also and if they need a place to talk about it why not? I would rather My girlfriend be a Flyer! Then she would understand why I love this hobby more than her! LOL>... Just kidding. She is going to read this and I'm gonna be in deep sh@%t.... I'm just kidding Sarah......

Depfife, thanks for your work. I've read some other threads that were so negative that it makes me wonder why do they bother.

DJ, Do you want the bug video? I hope to get a camera guy this weekend or the following week with the 3s battery, but that is what I have for now. Do you want electrics here? Anyway, I bookmarked the thread. If any q's about micro's come up I hope I can assist.

Tim

I fly at a club in deep south texas, its a big melting pot, there are some hispanics, whites, a native amierican, a couple of indians(from india), and some asians, and i love it....... as long as there is some flying going on everyone is happy, thats why we joined the club, we all have something in common, and throw race out the window

That's great....why don't you ask your minority club members if they would be interested in getting some more of their own kind interested in the hobby. I am sure that they will say yes. Keep flying and keep up the positive, tolerant attitude....we need more like you in the hobby

Thats great! at my field it seems the only people that fly are Me, Insayne, and Dan... aka Ballsasspower... oh, and Dr. Phil! LOL... that was an inside joke... Most of the older guys just come to watch us drink beer and Laugh when we crash! I have no problems with that its all fun at the end of the day...
