As much as I hate to admit it, I lost the contact information for the fine fellow that was flying the Yak-11 converted to the Yak-3 at Top Gun 2008.

Does anyone know who sells these fine planes and how to get in touch with them?

Thanks Graham!

I don't think its Dave Steven's as he was flying the B-25 at top gun, the guy with the Yak was in the tent just to Dave's left. They had the Yak-3/11 in there with some other goodies like a massive fibreglass Hurricane fuse and such on Saturday and Sunday.

Evil Merlin,

I don't want to steal or railroad your thread in the wrong direction, but everytime I see the word YAK it grabs my attention.

Are you looking to do a big Radial nose YAK or one with an In-line engine? I am curious, because I have the plug done for the 1/4th scale Bates YAK-3 with the In-Line and will be pulling a mold off of it in June/July timeframe. I already sold one fuse to a guy in Australia, so now I have a deadline and a commitment to finish the project. We've put some orders into Darrell at Sierra Giant Scale for gear. He is waiting to see my first fuse before he makes the gear. So let me know if you're interested. Leo

Leo, I'm going to do the Bates inline Yak-3 eventually. I really wanted to do the PCM Yak-3 but now that Patrick is no longer in the industry thats just not possible.

The request actually wasnt for me, it was for a fine fellow who actually knows the person that owns the real Yak that the model is based off of.

Hi,

It,s my Yak 11 and I finished 7th in my class at Top Gun.

I,m Steve Thomas and I own Bob,s Hobby Center in Orlando and we are the main Xoar distributer in the US

I remember speaking to you about it

Give me a call on 407 277 1248 or email

Thanks

Steve

PS the model is many years old and is from the old Fibreclassics kit. It has been my favorite model for many years and I built a brand new one for Top Gun which was a show stopper but hit a bail of hay whilst setting the model up

Thanks for the leg work Evil!! I will contact the guy (Steve Thomas) about the Yak model. The full size is owned by George Perez and It's based in France. Evil knows that I'm restoring 2 Yak fighters. An Allison powered Yak-3 and a Pratt and Whitney powered Yak-3U. I'm also helping on onother R2000 powered Yak-3U as well. We may be interested in a model or 2 for the owners. I'll be out of town until Sunday. I'll call Steve Thomas next week. Here are pics of the 2 Yak's.

Glad I could be of help. Just keep posting those images of the full scale Yak's!

Maybe some day I will win Megabucks and be able to pick one up for myself! It woud have to be a Yak-3 inline of course.

Unless you could get a MiG-3 (my favourite Russian bird).
