Hello ,

Well I called Horizon hobby tech support which is also LOSI support and I told them about the problem with the Locker DIFF GEAR problem ON THE LOSI SPEED T and they said they will NOT replace the part and you will HAVE TO WAIT for the item to come out and replace it yourself. I spoke to LARRY. I personally will wait for the part to come out and replace it myself but I am going to let everyone know about this because its really not fair, When people are stripping a Diff Gear in 1 run.

Thanks,
J

I would definitely say that Team Losi's race trucks are much better quality than the speed t, even though I don't have a speed t. Heck, what do I know.

For some reason I am thinking you weren't very civil on the phone...

And shouldn't it be dry if the rear is locked?

Are you sure there is supposed to be fluid in it? Usually 2wd trucks don't have fluid in the diffs like an 1/8 scale buggy does. What part stripped? How about some pictures?

a locked diff has no need for fluid

and a ball diff doesn't get filled with fluid either

Yet another post about someone stripping their diffs on a Losi Speed T. Maybe there should be an official thread, or sub forum. I don't even know if it is worth fixing, again and again. You could use the electronics in another 1/10th car.

It would appear that upgrading (adding the balls) solves the issue

the locker seems to just love eating diff gears

Hello,

Yes, no fluid, it was dry. I dont know wheather or not it needs the fluid but here's the deal. I want to give everyone an update. THanks to the guys on this forum, they figured out that item number LOSA3036 which is the locker diff, is the same exact as the losi speed version. I bought that part and they are right, its exactly and I mean 100% the same, I also updated it with the Carbide Diff Balls,3/32, and I put 50wt Diff fluid Anyway, I just feel better when I do that. I broke in the differentials like they mentioned in the book and I made sure the slipper clutch is JUUUUst right (not too tight like the way it came from the factory, so please check the tightness of your slipper when you 1st buy your car), I ran the car 3 times pretty hard today and the diffs seem to hold up, So far so good. As someone mentioned before, the losi xxx -t is very simular to the speed T. I even updated the shock tower with the xxx t shock tower and with very little modification it fits perfectly.

Happy to hear everything worked out. How much did the upgrades cost you? Well keep us posted on how it runs. A friend of mine swapped out the electronics in his the first week after to many breaks; great motor but his ESC caught fire. It will be great to try the Losi Speed T2 in August.

i agree, so you stripped a gear most likely cuz of abuse. now your bashing not 1 but 2 reputable companies cuz of your aggressive driving.. dude its a fast brushless and a plastic gear, beat on it hard enough for a while it will strip. lastly the speed T is pretty new and you just have to wait for the part, sorry... as far as the diff, no need to have fluid in it if its locked.

Hey,

Yesterday we made a home made track with cones on a huge parking lot. I was racing a friends jato just messing around. The losi speed t was 5-0 against the jato actually. THe car handled good on turns and fast on straight aways. With a 3cell 3500 mah battery, the batteries actually last longer than nitro tank.

Luckely after our last race, the jato lightly bumped into me and the rear wheel axle on my speed T broke. I feel like everytime I go out and drive this car, it drives real well but it seems like its breaking easily.... no abuse, just what anyone would do on any car.

The diffs with ball bearings, it is holding up real well, I feel like it wont strip anymore with this upgrade...its a MUST DO...

I still believe that if a company is going to sell a truck with that kind of power on board, there product should be able to handle it. They can't be able to expect people to "be easy on it," as far as pulling the trigger goes. Now if that was torn up with a tight slipper and he jumped it with the power on, that is a totally different story. I'm not thrashing losi or anything {being one of my favorite companies}, but I've raced brushless with guys running xxx-t MF2's, and they had no problem with the tranny, running the slipper tight. I'd have to say that Losi builds their race trucks much better than they build their electric sport trucks. Well, thats my 2 cents.
