Hi Gang,

I have been offered a deal on Hawk Sport with Webra 35 engine and Jet Ranger body as a package, before i accept it as its seems to be good heli and package i want to know how are these heli Webra engines.

Aircraft Webra engines are very powerful and at times carbs tend to take time to fully adjust but i have no experience with Heli versions. Your experience and advice on Webras will make final decision on this deal. Don't mention about OS engine as that is not a option with this package, i've already asked.

I have run two Webra heli engine, when set-up they work quite well.

BUT:

1 - Be sure to use LOW nitro fuel (not more then 10%...5% is better) unless you add head shims, as a high compression ratio is used due to the LOW to NO nitro fuels used in Europe.

2 - One of mine had a tendency for the idle needle to creep inward, causing lean running at idle and in the hover. So if you find yours doing so check for that. (On that one, I just used some locktite on the threads to keep it at the proper settings

Actually Century themselves have NEVER sold any versions of their Hawks, to any hobby shops that sold their helis, with the Thunder Tiger engines.

You could get them from Century with no engine and put any heli engine you wished into it, or with the OS or with the Toki.

I understand that they chose the OS for its' user friendliness in operation, and the Toki for its' extra power.

So if one has the Webra and the other has the TT, then they obviously were purchased without engines and someone installed these into them.

IMHO, when one is learning, he needs as much in his favor as he can get. That is why I think the OS is the best choice in that case. As it is by far the easiest to set-up properly.

Both the TT and Webra engines are OK, but just a harder to get tuned to run consistantly.

Syclic,

Thanks for the information on this engine type, i'm now confident that these are not much different then airplane webra engines when it comes to finding that sweet mixture spot!.

I will post its pictures once i get it as it's on its way now.

Regards.

Gyro Question...

TELEBEE TLB01 HL GYRO..

How would this gyro be for my heli?, i want to do training and then just fly scale only, can't stand 3D stuff at all, maybe roll or loop once in while.

Would this Telebee TLB01 gyro work for me or should i look into Fut 240 instead as both have been offered to me?, need your opinions and suggestions.

Plus going back to engine question once again, what type of muffler can i use on this Webra 35?, it didn't come with one!..

My experience with the Telebee was a bit mixed, as it would do some weird things at times. Upon close inspection I found it was due to a poor fit of the plugs. Once this was resolved it worked OK.

Personally I would take the 240 and set it in the heading hold mode.

As fr muffler, you may find the only one that will fit inside the Jet Ranger fuselage is the CN3058 muffler from Century that is specially designed for their scale fuselages. I got one for my Long Ranger on the OS32 from Norburn Hobbies in B.C. (www.norburnrc.com) and it works very well.

A friend got one for his Bell 222 from Great Hobbies, so there seems to be a number of hobby shops in Canada that have them.
