oldernut -> Extra battry pak (5/7/2008 10:50:11 PM)

I was just about to place an order at Tower Hobbies. I would like to include a couple battry paks in the order. Somewhere around 1500mAh should be about right. This would be for Futaba receivers. Any sugestions?

I have used 500mAh pack for up to .60 sized planes, so a 1500mAh would be for a 1/4 scale job.

Any pack meeting those specs from Tower will be good quality... They should all weigh roughly the same as well so long as you compare NiMH to NiMH and NiCd to NiCd. I personally run 6V 2300mAh NiMH batteries in my .40 size or larger planes. Having 2300mAh means it will last all day, for as many flights as I want (checking between flights of course) and the 6V means that I can loose a cell and not loose my plane. The minor additional weight is nothing to worry about on this size scale or sport plane and is worth the added security and convenience. The weight actually come in as needed for balancing anyway on most planes. Better to have good batteries on board than lead.
