Newbie here,
I am planning on buying a 1/16th HL Tiger and have found several out there but I figure someone has the hook up on prices, shipping, and service. Preferably a s&s model. I am a experienced modeler and just breaking into the rc tank scene. Can't wait to get my first one and plan on buying more in the future but i do not want to get took. Service is most important then price. Thanks and may your dogs of war keep howling!

So far raidentech, but mato ship's with metal gearboxes. Had bad luck with mato but they made it right, well ok anyhow. Good luck, and the tanks are worth the trouble, just try to stay in touch with the vender. The squeaky wheel gets the grease ya know !

First off, Welcome newbie

Mato has been the best for most of us, you may pay a little more in shipping (go UPS) but they have a proven track record as fare as I'm concerned, Raidentech has only a few convinced that they are selling the same metal geared tanks, Read the past posts and you see that MATO is the place.

Your turn BIGMIG.

LOL and you guys whine about shipping... we pay nearly three times that!!

My last MATO order they quoted $86USD just for shipping on a PzIII S&S with metal tracks and an extra S&S set. Raidentech wanted $70USD for shipping (more than the tank costs), yet I can get 1/18 Sherman from Louisville KY posted here for $30USD...

Wacky you live on a deserted island that use to be a prison and banishing point for the Worlds undesirables, of course they are going to charge you outrageous prices!

OK before I loose tons of friends and customers it was just a joke!!!I have many friends in Australia, it has some of the most unique landscapes, and creatures designed especially for its terrain, it is right up there in the top 5 of places I want to see before I die!

Tasmania - If you call an island thats 35042 square miles with half a million people on it "deserted" then, well, I dunno what to say lol...

Anyways, like I say I can get a box 3/4 the size of a HL box here from USA for $30, but can't get a HL-sized box here for less than $70? That's just crazy... (paying literally more for shipping than the actual tank costs)

How about toyeast?

toyeast

Not much selection it appears, but I think if you search you'll find a few people that have ordered from there. I would expect shipping to be cheaper...

Hey wackywheelz

I think for UPS the last Panzer IV I ordered was $45.00 USD, That's not a problem for me, I've paid $125.00 to ship the Tamiya from Hong Kong,

Ouch, you do pay much more, sorry to hear that, so for the small upgrade parts that you have shipped to you are you paying a high price for them also? or is it only the tanks.

Gary

Hmm, depends on whether you absolutely have to have metal gearboxes and metal tracks from the get-go. If not and with your skills as an experienced modeler taken into consideration, you can save a lot of money by ordering a standard S&S Heng Long Tiger I from Raidentech or from similar online vendors such as GrandHobby, BananaHobby.com, Zhobby.com to name a few. The metal upgrades can be installed later at your discretion but in the meantime you could judge how your tank would perform bone stock and determine what upgrades you desire.
There are a lot of online vendors offering HL tanks and it would seem that many share some kind of corporate relationship:

http://www.nitrorcx.com/scale16.html
http://www.egrandbuy.com/rctanks1.html
http://www.zhobby.com/rctank.html
http://www.wonderhobby.com/116rctanks.html

It seems the median price for a (standard, plastic gear/track) S&S Tiger is roughly $65.

I've ordered from Zhobby before simply because their shipping to Hawaii (where I lived at the time) was the cheapest. It was approximately $13 if I recall correctly. My Pershing was shipped with a missing battery door and they had a new one at my door in about 6 days from the time I notified them. Great experience with them and prompt replies to email inquiry, etc..

Hauntedtank,

This deal still stands i have a Tiger 1 right now and a Walker Bulldog! The Tiger 1 has plastic gears, everything works great plus I will add the IR full options, with proportiona drive set to the weight of your tank for realism, and hit and fire sound loaded onto additional sound card.

I was thinking of doing small batches of tanks and adding the IR battle system, so you could buy from me a tank that has been inspected by me to ensure that it all runs well and works plus you get the DBC/DBU & sound card already installed, 30 day warranty with me bumper to bumper (except the airsoft gun), or unless obvious abuse! What do you guys thing $ 240.00 includes shipping it sounds like a lot but it has IR battle system Tamiya compatible and the piece of mind that your tank will be running when it arrives!??
