Actually, my girlfriend got it for me for our anniversary - she knew I had been looking at it.

MacBook Air, its even thinner than I thought. I'm scared to snap it in half [&:]

DarkFire989 -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/8/2008 11:45:27 AM)

Bad part is that it has no cd player.

Longhair -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/8/2008 12:06:30 PM)

Bad part it's an apple [:D]

It looks really nice & light.

sheograth -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/8/2008 12:39:44 PM)

I don't particularly care about the lack of an optical drive, all I'm going to use it for is browsing the internet from all over the house and impressing clients [:D]

zeen420 -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/8/2008 1:56:45 PM)

Must be nice[X(]

My dad bought one just for the light up keyboard [:D]

I was majorly looking at that to replace our out-dated Vaio's.

But the CD/DVD Drive not being internal kind of broke it for use.

We replaced them with the new solid state Vaio's.

I got one of those for my dad, he needs a thin laptop, and dosent really lug it around much, so the CD/DVD drive being external dosent really matter for him.

Great laptop tho.

*Edit*

@ Nick,

Yupp it has one usb port. Just get a port replicator if needed, which it probably will.

Targus makes a great one with an external power adaptor, has 7 USB ports.

slurp91193 -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/8/2008 9:32:54 PM)

it looks cool but id stick with microsoft. im happy with my sony vaio. expensive but worth it.lol

sheograth -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/9/2008 1:10:03 AM)

Yeah it has USB ports.

I'm very experienced with XP/Vista and OSX, but use Vista now mainly. That said I wouldn't dare call OSX a bad platform, its excellent - and the hardware that Intel and Apple are putting out is great too.

The Air is a bit slim on ports and such, but it does what its designed to do perfectly. It has excellent wireless connectivity so even without all the ports and drives you can be productive. Frankly so many ports, drives, and external features are becoming vestigial in the computer world. If you're connected to the internet and have one USB port you're good to go for the most part.

And anyway, like I said all I'm going to use this thing for is AIM and web browsing so its perfect.

Nik. -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/9/2008 3:21:15 AM)

meh...

RevToTheRedline -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/9/2008 3:25:51 AM)

<3 My Apple products. Macbook Air doesn't really fit any of my specific needs as a graphics designer but it's an amazing product.

Anomie -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/9/2008 5:08:40 AM)

Criminy, I can't believe how many NegaMacs there are. The airbook is perfect for the average Mac user - not so tightly wound about expansion like a Wintel fan.

Sheo, that's a great gift. Keep her! (not just the puter [;)])

comerford2@msn.com -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/9/2008 5:23:37 AM)

some people are haters[&:] It's a cool lap top and I think people are just mad that apple is doing so well and we see how apple is coming up with better product then every one else. also mac's don't get the bugs that microsoft does. also can you name one thing that microsoft did that he did not steel from someone[8|].

comerford2@msn.com -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/9/2008 5:31:04 AM)

just had to do this for fun[:D][:D] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YUxbDEPFiM

Nik. -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/9/2008 6:19:18 AM)

its not a laptop. its an "Internet communications device" LOL!

Macs never crash! http://www.macfixit.com/

hmm, what is something that microsoft 'steeled' form someone?

RevToTheRedline -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/9/2008 12:34:44 PM)

There are Mac haters just like there are haters of everything else, I've learned to live with it, enjoy your Windows.

(I was in the computer building and repair field for about 8 years for the Windows/Linux platform, and a user since I can't even remember.) switched to Mac only this last September, single handedly the best computing move I have ever done. But just like any other product such as Cars, results may vary.

sorry X-box 360. WOW that is a great thing that helps man kind.

dsales -> RE: Yay! new toy (5/9/2008 7:27:18 PM)

I love windows and Mac, the only reason i prefer macs to windows is the graphics and cool layout but for everything else, Windows is better.

The only reason why I hate XBOX is because its owned by microsoft [:'(]

I just buy what ever works the best with most the stuff out.
windows wins that battle.
same goes for the 360.. more games better online.

That is a sweet notebook though. I wouldn't throw it away if someone gave me one.
