Actually, my girlfriend got it for me for our anniversary - she knew I had been looking at it.

MacBook Air, its even thinner than I thought. I'm scared to snap it in half

I don't particularly care about the lack of an optical drive, all I'm going to use it for is browsing the internet from all over the house and impressing clients

I was majorly looking at that to replace our out-dated Vaio's.

But the CD/DVD Drive not being internal kind of broke it for use.

We replaced them with the new solid state Vaio's.

I got one of those for my dad, he needs a thin laptop, and dosent really lug it around much, so the CD/DVD drive being external dosent really matter for him.

Great laptop tho.

*Edit*

@ Nick,

Yupp it has one usb port. Just get a port replicator if needed, which it probably will.

Targus makes a great one with an external power adaptor, has 7 USB ports.

Yeah it has USB ports.

I'm very experienced with XP/Vista and OSX, but use Vista now mainly. That said I wouldn't dare call OSX a bad platform, its excellent - and the hardware that Intel and Apple are putting out is great too.

The Air is a bit slim on ports and such, but it does what its designed to do perfectly. It has excellent wireless connectivity so even without all the ports and drives you can be productive. Frankly so many ports, drives, and external features are becoming vestigial in the computer world. If you're connected to the internet and have one USB port you're good to go for the most part.

And anyway, like I said all I'm going to use this thing for is AIM and web browsing so its perfect.

<3 My Apple products. Macbook Air doesn't really fit any of my specific needs as a graphics designer but it's an amazing product.

Criminy, I can't believe how many NegaMacs there are. The airbook is perfect for the average Mac user - not so tightly wound about expansion like a Wintel fan.

Sheo, that's a great gift. Keep her! (not just the puter )

some people are haters It's a cool lap top and I think people are just mad that apple is doing so well and we see how apple is coming up with better product then every one else. also mac's don't get the bugs that microsoft does. also can you name one thing that microsoft did that he did not steel from someone .
