I'm also putting the first prototype back up so I will have 2 ready to fly this weekend. High demand and we are so short on the Reaction ARF even for factory demo !!! PST won't let me have a production one to play with

B777 can you post a shot of the motor mount. I would like to see where/if you put any re-enforcment there.
Thanks
Gary

a question about the plumbing on the fuel tanks..........
ok, it's obvious that the 1 liter tank will sit directly under the 2.5 liter main tank in the model....but according to the schematic i'm seeing is that the UAT will be fed by the main tank, and not the smaller tank.....i'm bringing this up because i've never seen a plumbing arrangement done this way before.....i'm not saying it won't work.....it's just that every fuel system i've seen or done on my own models is.......the fuel pump draws from the UAT, which draws from the 1 liter header tank, which draws from the main tank.....this way the fuel in the main tank is depleted first.....or, does it make any difference which tank is depleted first?.....

any thoughts or comments out there from anyone?

Richard

We flew one of the prototypes with the PST 1600R with no mods to the engine mount. They are very solid indeed..

I'm sure the airframe is strong enough that is not what I meant about re-enforcement. The plywood motor mounts are only tabbed at the front former and just get a surface gluing to the rear former (the rear portion of the mounting plate just sits on the flat in the former). Is this how you installed the mounts for a 36lb engine? This is what I would like to see a photo of. Thank you.

The 1600R was installed w/o any mods. I believe the engine mounts are glued to the fuse and the two formers.. My own PC is down, when fixed I'll post some pics. I think B777 will answer when he is awake it is now 5 am in Thailand!!!

7am...I'm awake now...

Fuel Tanks: We install the fuel system so that the extra 1L tank is depleted first then the main tank (similar to your overflow tank for start and ground usage). This configuration allows you to disconnect the extra tank easily or just fill the main tank if you don't need the extra tank or even quickly convert the extra tank for smoke. In addition, if the extra tank is added on at a later time, the header/main fuel plumbing is not affected. This is the benefit that we see.

Motor mounts are epoxied to the formers and fuselage side. Sand the fuselage side (inner skin) a bit to get best bonding and make sure that you generously apply Aeropoxy or similar slow cure epoxy. The strength is more than enough to handle 38lbs turbine Wood/Fiberglass/Glue bonding is very strong. You will not be able to remove the mounts after gluing without hammering and tearing off the structure !!

Pictures show J1300R (28lbs thrust turbine) mounting.

Kraivuth S.

Make sure that you sand the fuselage side a bit to get better bonding.

Steering servo is mounted as shown. Again sand the fiberglass surface before bonding the mount with epoxy.

Speed brake installation is also shown here.

Fuel tank installation. You will need to make your own mounting support and brackets. These are easily made from scrap plywood. You can also use silicone to secure the tank to the fuselage but I find the method to be messy. However, I use silicone to glue the extra tank to the main tank.

My plane is now 99% ready. I am using a p120, with a single stock fuel tank and a UAT at the LE. Everything is built as per the few instructions that are aailable. One question now. My plane wont stand up straight on its 3 wheels. Its extremely tail heavy. Even if I put 3 giant nicads in its nose, it needs more nose weight. Is this normal. In the pics I see the batteries are placed around the leading edge etc. I wonder what have I done wrong???? I havent balanced the plane yet for its CG...I am only trying to make it stand up without raising its nose leg.
