Hello Guys

I am finishing my first 50CC aiplane and I am ready to put the electrical system on. I have a A123 2300 for the receiver I and I have another for the igniton. My question is I want to have to switchs for the receiver and I don't know how all this conections with one battery has to go.

Is any body can help me with this please ?

Your battery needs to have two output leads. Each lead goes to one of your switches.

BTW: Your A123 battery will probably have a total of three leads, two outputs leads (blk/red) and one 3 wire charge charge lead.

Brunito,

Do you want to charge the batteries through the port in the MPI switch, or through a separate 3-wire lead?

And, are you going to be using a 2.4 gig radio that requires hard-wired access to the receiver for binding?

I was told the I can't charge the batteries thru the mpi switch so I guess I have to use a separate 3 wire conection and yes I am using a 2.4 FASST sytem on it. this is my first 50CC gas airplane and everybody says the one switch is not good. And I am not triying to cut no corners at all so I am triying to set this plane thes best of my ability.

I use two switches, separate charging jack because of need to balance. MPI switches are very good, I have had no problems with them in dozens of models through the years.

The A123's are bulletproof. You will be very happy with them.

You can charge and balance through the port in the MPI switch. BUT, you must cut the white (or third) wire from the switch to the receiver, AND, you must use a properly set-up three wire connector from the batteries to the switch. The connector from the batteries to the switch will be red, +; black, _; and white, balance.

For the second switch use a two wire connector from the battery to the switch, just red and black. On this switch leave the white (or third) wire connected to the receiver. Then, use this switch for access to the receiver for binding. That is if the FASST system requires a hard -wired connection for binding.

Please note: If you wire it this way you must charge through the switch that has the white wire to the receiver that has been cut and you must access the receiver through the switch with the white wire intact. Do not confuse them!

Or, you may use two, two-wire connectors from the batteries to the switch, a third three-wire connector for charging, and access the receiver through either switch. If you wire the battery this way, you will be able to charge, but not balance, through the port in the MPI switches. In that case you could field charge through the switches and just use the separate three-wire connector to charge and balance. Some people think that balancing is not needed with each charge...I do not know.

Bob Pasterello's site is full of good information.

I have a 50cc gas-powered plane with one 2300 (with two switches) for the electronics and one 1100 for the ignition. Works very well.

The FMA Cell-Pro 4 is a real nice charger for these cells. There are probably many more.
