Hi.
Ive been watching Bobs videos on ccpm1 and 2.
Do the blades have to be off the heli on one side to check the pitch (then do the other side)or is that just the way he does it for the camera?
Im setting up the pitch on a blade 400. Everytime I put the pitch gague on the weight brings the blade down and everything seems to move so I thought Id ask you guys to clafify it for me.
Many thanks.

the correct way...
pop off the ball links on your master... move the blade untill it balanaces level so it does not fall forward or backward.
tighten the blade so it does not move. snap the links back on.
use the pitch gauge about 2/3 out on the blade and always check the pictch on the same side of the heli.
mid stick in stunt mode should be 0 and and the servos should be 90 degrees and the mixer hub / seasaw should also be level.
full neg and possitve should be the same or very close. if its out make sure the pins are ingaged at stick extremes.
check the slave and get it close as you will have to track the slave to the master anyway.
on the bigger helis if you do the blade grip balance on both blades and have a good guage, 99% of the time when you go to track them they are perfect without any ajustments.

Thanks vince.b. Sorry for being a newbee but what do you mean when you refer to the master?

Phill,

I have not heard that term either but...

The best way to check blade pitch is to have the blades to the side of the heli.
That puts the flybar over the tail so you can see that it is level, parallel, with the tail boom.
It actually is more important for it to be at 90 degrees to the main shaft.

A flybar lock will solve the problem.
I use a small allen key, smaller than what came with the B400. and slide it through the hole, space, in the head where the seesaw holder is. Then I pull it onto the flybar cage so the allen key is on top of the set screws.
This holds the flybar level and facilitates using the pitch gauge.

Here's some pics that explain it better.

Sorry the master is the blade that you set up first. say the red one or the black one.
then I set the slave as close to the master as i can... then whe i track the blades I will track the slave to the master.

Alot of the time, You can use the foam blade holder used to transport the heli, on the boom and rest the flybar paddle on top and it will keep it level for You.
It does on the Rex, anyway.

Thanks for the replies.
My pitch is +10 at 100% stick and -1 at 50% and -5 at 0% so I really need to have a go and sort it.
Yesterday I stripped a servo, but I turned the cog 180 degrees and it works fine, but I know I really need to replace it.
Are servos easy to setup, as in take out, replace, set at 90degress and fly or is there a bit more to it.
I am tempted to replace all 3 servos then I will have no choise but to set the pitch propperly.
Am I right in thinking,To adjust the pitch you adjust in the TX and not by linkages and if full possitive pitch and full neg pitch are different are then my swash is all messed up and have to start right from scratch.
Many thanks for your help.

Replacing servos is pretty much what you said. Yes you adjust the pitch through the transmitter. If you don't have the same top and bottom pitch you don't have to start from scratch. Just make sure your swashplate is level. Then if you have more positive pitch move the swashplate down or up to get more negative. I don't remember what way the swashplate moves on the B400. And do that with the three outside pushrods equally. You might have to move the other pushrods depending on how close the servo horn is to the original. You might also have to reverse the servos or swashmix. Then you might also have to adjust the travel adjustment to keep the swashplate level at full positive and negative pitch.

Thank you evdreamer , very helpful instructions.
I did buy a replacement servo but the broken one with reversed cogs is working / flying so well at the moment even with bad pitch (flying well for a newbee) Im going to leave it til I either crash or we get some bad weather. The sunshine and low wind to to good to miss.
Thank you again for your help.

Your welcome. Enjoy flying and the weather. The winds here are 20+ MPH.
