Typically, a wing tube with sockets in the wing panels is used. Virtually all 2M pattern planes are made this way and most 50cc and up gas models as well. I would say a 38" span is more than small enough to be a one piece model, I have a 48" span Hots that is fine as a one piece. Most of the 3D profile planes are 44"+ spans and have one piece designs as well. The problem with a 2 piece wing is it adds weight and you can't afford that in a 38" span model. Mark
