Ok, so i have a blackhawk 500 se pro, which, btw i really like, the build quality is top notch! anyways, i had the idea of modding it, and am wondering if anyone has tried this. the BH 500, in stock form is using 350mm main blades. i was thinking if it was possible to get a carbon fiber boom and tail drive belt around 60-70mm longer than the original, and running 425 main blades. using a 4s setup, would this be possible?

its not that i want it to be better, just different. bigger.....if i could find a boom of the same diameter and longer, and a belt that would fit, id get a set of 425's and giver a try! i cant see why it wouldnt work, but, sometimes it seems i can't see ;-)

anyone have any thoughts on this? any idea's on what boom/belt would fit? heck, i would cut down a too long boom and make it fit, beit CF, or aluminum, i guess the belt would be the main thing....

any idea's appreciated.

btw- the next main change im gonna make to my BH, is a logictech 2100T gyro. and some decent fast gyro. right now i have an Art-Tech v2 HH gyro in it, and it just doesnt do such a fine heli justice.... and i have 3- 4S 2200 MaH lipo's on the way from HK as i type. im dying to try them out in this bird.....

the heli really isnt designed to swing the weight of 425,s. its called a 500 but really its more like a 460.

the head is small and if you try swinging that weight and get in a wreck its going to really tear things up.

i think you can get away with a hair bigger blades, but i would not even try 400,s

ahhhh!, i see now... ;-) maybe ill just leave it stock !

thanks for your input! the small head makes sense, i guess if all was perfect, it may be a go, but prolly not worth it.

yeah.. that heli shoulda been called a 450+ now, if you want a bigger heli, look at the Trex 500, the Gaui 425 (both are true 500 sized helis) or the Gaui hurricane 550 (same size as a .30 nitro swinging 500-550mm blades).. if you want an exotic, look into the SJM 500 (swinging 425mm blades) once it gets re-released.. it's a beautiful heli and will turn more than a few heads at the flying field.
