Billy -> JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/9/2008 6:33:50 AM)

Does anybody have any videos of the Firebird? Preferrably one that has a take off and landing in it.

Thanks,
Billy

Who you kidding? Them thar birds are too fast to be caught on film with any kinda ordinary camera!

Flaps Required![8D]

Jascat100 -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/9/2008 4:03:43 PM)

There is one on Tube. Ali flying with an AMT Olympus.

Edit. I cannot get the clip to play from here. Go to You Tube & search for Firebird jet & it is there.

Jascat100 -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/9/2008 4:54:40 PM)

Here is another short clip from Robrow. It was just a test clip. He may have more footage.

Robrow -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/9/2008 5:17:47 PM)

I have more footage of this one (Colin Gardner's Merlin powered) in the camera, can try to post if someone desperately wants to see it. Like the man said....virtually impossible to keep these things framed [;)]

Rob.

Talk about teaser clips...let's get all pumped up and see the plane accelerate up through[8|] 100mph....then clip stops?!1[:-]

p-80 -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/9/2008 8:37:24 PM)

i want some despratll ive been looking ever since i knew about this plane

Bob R2 -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/9/2008 8:58:31 PM)

Landing footage would be great if any is available. Coolest and best looking sport jet on planet earth.

turbone -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/9/2008 10:09:48 PM)

I second that, I would love to see some video, all that I ever found was the takeoff of Ali.

drdoom -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/9/2008 10:45:04 PM)

It is very well engineered...

David Searles -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/9/2008 10:49:31 PM)

Just got off the phone with him. Gave me the number of a guy in Texas that may have some video. I guess the file is too large to download ,so he might have to mail a copy.

Turbone, that looks nice. No word of the SE for the 200, don't need it[;)],

Keep us informed of your progress. Where will you be flying it at?

Billy

I own one that I have been flying for a while. I don't have video, just lots of stills. Is there something I can tell you?

Now that you have the ALMIGHTY F-BIRD.... The question is will you ever fly it????? There is no need for a 200SE... Those big block blowers spool up plenty quick[:D]

AFTERBURNER1 -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/10/2008 1:36:33 AM)

Giddy up Billy and get er done... At least "ONE" Firebird will do what it was supposed to do!!!![X(][:D]

Billy -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/10/2008 1:46:22 AM)

In short time Duk. Got to finish what's on the bench now. In the mean time, I can do some homework[;)]. Can't wait to build this "HILL CLIMBER". [sm=lol.gif]

turbone -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/10/2008 4:44:03 AM)

Billy, first few flights will be either Rabbit dry lake or el mirage then basin as its close by. Did you also get one? That will make 4 in the south bay I spoke to sung a week ago and his is done.

Afterburner my 14m shows a few hundred hours on it hopefully this year will have a bunch of firebird time [:D]

Billy -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/10/2008 6:58:53 AM)

I will be getting one soon.

Don't know what a 14m is.... Sounds like something Futaba[:'(] makes though!!![:D]

turbone -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/10/2008 10:07:45 PM)

I keep checking back to see if a good firebird video shows up. There are more videos of bigfoot on youtube[X(] than the firebird.
ANYBODY out there have some footage they can post???

Hi Keith,

I think Billy wants to know about landing characteristics, compared to say a KingCat and whether that speedbrake has much effect.

Thanks in advance,

Billy -> RE: JMP FIREBIRD videos (5/10/2008 11:29:51 PM)

I just like to watch the plane before I fly it. And since there isn't too many flying around here i figured the vid would be the next best thing.

Makes sence that there are not to many vids out there,......just too dang fast to shoot[:D]

The Firebird is not a short field plane, but as long as you have enough runway, it is not difficult to land. You need to carry some speed, but the plane flares nicely and has little tendency to bounce, unlike the Kingcat. I think the belly speed brake does help some. It handles crosswinds nicely. The landing gear and tires are strong points for the kit, are positioned well and matched nicely with the airframe.

The takeoffs are the smoothest of any plane I have flown.

It does eat up a lot of sky, but that is what it was designed to do.
