Since I enjoyed viewing all the pictures of the top 2% of the scale modelers out there during TOP GUN I got motivated to finally finish up my T-28. Because there are so many NAVY's T-28 out there I thought I would finish mine in the Royal Thai Air Force colors. Let me warn you all that I'm definitely at the BOTTOM 2% of the scale modelers out there. This is a test project to try out some new techniques. Its about a week away from finishing up. Its going to be my everyday flyer, nothing really fancy. I'll post a better picture of the Trojan next week outdoors when she is completed. Sorry about the messy workshop/workout room. You all are Clear Hot to bash my work if you like. It no competition plane I'm just a sport flyer who having fun with a warbird, I love this hobby!

Looks great to me... did you strip it and paint it? or scuff up and paint ove the covering?

Ron,
I stripped it and painted it. The paint is straight from the can, Lusterkote. I experimented with a lighter fiberglasss cloth .50 oz versus the usual .75 oz with an expoxy mix to save some weight. Lesson learned, the old .75 oz and Z-Poxy is much easier to work with and probably with the same amount of weight. Going back to painting from the can is a little less messy than mixing and using an airbrush if you are dealing with simple colors. The graphics are form cal-graphix, these guys are superb and quick on their customer service. I email them the graphics and the within two days, is shipped and they were cheap.

Swift, your T-28 look great! First, if you are builing this one for fun who cares what everyone thinks. Your plane looks better than a lot I have seen. Also this bird is not real close to scale outline, but looks like a T-28 to me or anyone else that knows the plane. You have a great flying experience awaiting you. The Pica birds were designed to fly! Just remember to use about 15-20 degrees of flaps on take off, or you will have a hard time getting it to rotate. What engine do you have in it?

Gary,
I'm putting in a Saito 150 in her and will be spinning a 16X8 2-blade prop where I have success with it in my other warbirds. I pretty much use your most of your tips in the RC Report review. You must got an earlier Robart gears for this plane. I got my directly from COX a few months after the kit came out and it drops right in. Just had to adjust the front strut out about 1/8" like you stated in your review. As for the gear doors I found out that the two black screws that came in the same bag as the doors will mount the doors directly to the retract unit, there are already cut outs in the doors for the screws to go through. The bottom mounts, I just installed it the same way you did. It's definitely on there very sturdy. I guess I'll find out next week during her maiden. Still got to complete the partial cockpit and test run the engine this weekend plus mount the gun barrels. Gary, you and other reviewers of this kit stated that it needs 10-15 degrees flaps on take off. Since I fell asleep during my geometry classes and my GP throw gauge only has inches. Can you give me in inches how much throw is 10-15 degrees? Thanks.

Swift, the flap setting is not critical. just put in about one third to half flaps. If on rough grass use almost all flaps down to get off the grass quicker. I do not have the manual any more due to the aircraft belongs to a friend of mine. He is between a novice and intermeadiate pilot and has put a number of flight on it with no problems. Plane takes off flies and lands very easily. Good luck with it!! Looks like these models are going to be scarce untill this fall so you will not have to worry about anyone showing up at the field with the same model.
