ORIGINAL: 123Splat Well spoken Mr. Bill. But, the answer to your unasked question lies in the responses to this thread. It just isn't a big deal anymore. But, our parents and grand parents had similar concerns about our generation..... The world marches on. Still it is sometimes nice to realize that there are some gentlemen left out there. I tried to have a serious conversation with my grandparents once, who both experienced WWII and it was very difficult. I felt (perhaps naively) that their views where limited by the one-sided propaganda of the time, as opposed to more balanced view we have today. I suppose its one of those things that the younger generation cannot understand or appreciate as we did not have to live through it, fearful of the outcome. This is a real shame, because the people that could really provide so much more personal insight into that time, would rather not talk about it. Many have of course, but it's a shame I could never talk to my grandparents about it without fear of offending them. I do remember one conversation though, where my grandfather had come across a destroyed IV in North Africa, and the sight of the interior had scarred him for life. I didn't want to ask him about the war after that
