This was posted a few months ago... thought I'd bring it back around for a laugh and for those that missed it.

The idea is cute but the profanity could have been left out or other terminology used. There are some of us looking at these things that do have a bit of education and do not appreciate the abusive language.
Where's our honorable Web mediators.
We can't mention the E in the Bay with any good info for members without it being deleted, but crud like this abounds in multiple segments, uncensored. I have most of Hitler's speeches on 33 RPM records and although Hitler was violent and abusive in his
messages, he did not resort to profanity. People putting out these videos have a cute idea, but some should learn some German and listen to his use of speech, then adjust the altered subtitles in accordance with an educated audience.

In whose vocabulary and segment of society? I served 25 years with tank troops and never had to lower myself to resort to that amount of profanity. No, I'm not a West Point grad with a dozen degrees, only a lowly senior NCO who worked closely with my troops, including combat time. In a combat environment when you have lost a couple men and busy cutting the enemy down, cussing becomes a norm, but these videos are not in that stressful environment and a little inteligence could be used in making them.

Well spoken Mr. Bill. But, the answer to your unasked question lies in the responses to this thread. It just isn't a big deal anymore. But, our parents and grand parents had similar concerns about our generation.....

That sounds like a typical "get your mind out of the gutter....come on down to the sewer with me" attitude. Use of language pretty much points to education level and life style. No need to change stations, just clean up the one we have.

I don't like your attitude nor accusations Mr Bill. You whine about this everytime it comes up so one would think you would be used to it by now. Especially as long as you have been around!!!

I tried to have a serious conversation with my grandparents once, who both experienced WWII and it was very difficult. I felt (perhaps naively) that their views where limited by the one-sided propaganda of the time, as opposed to more balanced view we have today. I suppose its one of those things that the younger generation cannot understand or appreciate as we did not have to live through it, fearful of the outcome.

This is a real shame, because the people that could really provide so much more personal insight into that time, would rather not talk about it. Many have of course, but it's a shame I could never talk to my grandparents about it without fear of offending them.

I do remember one conversation though, where my grandfather had come across a destroyed IV in North Africa, and the sight of the interior had scarred him for life. I didn't want to ask him about the war after that

it is so easy to make light of war now. Unless you have had bullets whizzing by your head, seen your buddies dying before your eyes, smelled the smell of war it is hard to feel what they felt. During the war many cartoons and posters made fun of Hilter and his cronies. Same goes for the war time stuff on the Japanese, they were protrayed as eyeglassed squinty eyed bucktoothed characters. But today profanity is common, hardly bleeped out now on alot of tv channels. I guess they feel the freedom of speach guaranties that. Ever walk by a school these days hell they know some swear words I never heard of. But we seem to turn a blind eye to it now or we have become desensetized to it. And look at all the violence now on tv shows.... never used to see the blood squirt and bodies riped to pieces.... it's a new world now to what I grew up in

I know how you feel. As a kid on an afternoon stroll with my grandfather, I once asked him about the bombing of Pearl Harbor, where I later found out that he had lost his brother. My ignorance brought a look of pain to his face. I remember trying to fix it by saying something along the lines of, "I bet the Japanese weren't even sorry for killing those people." He said he thought that they were sorry. We never spoke the war again.

You're right, Bill, we could have done without the profanity.
