Where did you pick up the fuse? I'm looking at 500E fuses for my Blade 400, I haven't been able to find the Align fuselages online.

I got it from a LHS prop-shop. Wasnt that bad to install, getting the tail servo in the right way was the hardest part, if you are lucky enough to find one at a LHS look at a few of them if they have them and make sure your not buying one that the inside platform is on a slant, theres alot of guys that had slanted platforms and stuff but I think I just got lucky

Hey bug, how has the 500E held up? Yours looks very nice! I was going to get the civilian paint scheme but they have been out of stock forever. Then I saw your photos and I think I like the looks of yours better. I was able to find it in stock and just placed my order! Did you have any problem with balance? I heard that the fuse may make it tail heavy. I have the Align CNC tail box and aluminum boom. I was wondering if I should put on a CF boom to lighten the tail a little. The metal tail box adds extra weight. On the plus side I have the Airtronics tail servo which is smaller than the more common Futaba tail servo. That should make it easier to fit. How do you access the battery? Is it easy?

I havent had nearly as many issues that others had, I was definetly one of the lucky ones. I did not need any counter weight anywhere even after switching from the stock tail box to the alum one. Its holding up great even after a minor hard landing when I got dumb thumbs. The front clip has two magnets that hold it on and you remove that to access the battery, but I would for sure put some more magnets or clips in the nose for added security to keep it from coming off in flight

Ok, good to hear. I have some small rare earth magnets that are insane strong I can use for the canopy. I use the Kong Power batteries and I think they are a bit heavier than most so sounds like I should not have a balance problem. Do you know of a build thread for the Align 500E body? Looks pretty straight forward in photos I have seen but there always seems to be a few good tips in the build threads to avoid headaches.

Over on helifreak in the scale section theres a whole thread about it and it helped me alot, one of the hardest things I forgot to mention for me was the tail servo and rod set up, just was a pain but if you have decent mechanical ability you can get it

Bad day, just out flying on lunch and the 500E went down from about 20ft, had a battery failure and the aileron locked on me sending it down hard on its side, looks like the blades( which sheared off ) and the fly bar took most of the hit and the fuse got a little road rash on the side, suprisingly hardley any damage for how hard it hit

Ouch! Glad to hear the body survived. I have not had many crashes with my T-Rex. I had a bad one where I thought it was toast and my stock fiberglass body survived. I had a small crash that trashed it. Guess it is mostly luck on how it hits the ground and if the blades go into the body. I know I will be flying a lot more careful once I put the 500E body on it. I need to put a reminder on my radio to take it out of normal mode. 3 times now in the past year or so I have forgotten to put it in idle up mode after buzzing around for a couple minutes. Then I go to do something that requires me to go inverted like a roll or loop and off goes the motor! Each time I've been able to "land" it level on the skids but hard. With the extra weight of the 500E body the outcome of a stupid mistake like than may be more messy.

I'm debating if I leave it stock green for the Army look or if I go with my original plan to replicate the local police department's heli's paint and graphics. I figured I'd have less of a chance to have a problems with the local police if I was flying a replica of their heli! Now if I could just find a way to convert my 450 into a NOTAR version... I'm still trying to find a photo of the old HB1 heli that was not a NOTAR version.

There is just a hole on the other side of the boom that blows out air. They are 30% quieter than the version with the tail rotor. Pretty cool.
