nitro boys help me out,
I have a forza 1/10. Ive put about 40 mins on it. several minor wrecks. the engine revs up but the buggy doesn't move. The clutch bell is spinning and one of the gears it contacts "throttle big gear" or "throttle small gear" is turning, however the other one isn't. The larger seems to demonstrate wear also? Another item to note (visualized from the bottom) is without tearing it apart it seems one of the Hex screws in the female clutch is missing. i don't know if there is suppose to be two like in the picture. can anyone help me before I take it apart?
Thanks

Are both gears on the gear box stripped? are the teeth still good?

you might want to check your clutch shoes under the clutch bell and see.

spin the main gear by your find and it should turn the dog bones and turn the front and rear diffs.

sounds like you might be missing the locking screw for your 2 speed clutch is missing another strange thing is that you said one gear is spining and the other isn't, if the clutch bell is in contact with both gears then they both have to spin, only way for one to spin and the other to not spin is if your engine is sitting seriously cock eyed on the chassis OR you have a stripped gear.

thanks guys. It looks like the large gear is worn, and my engine is sitting pretty sideways. Is there a magic way to align those to minimize the wear? Also is it better to replace that whole assembly or just the large gear?

I say just replace the large gear and by replacing the gear you can learn about your car.

To align the clutch bell and the main gear, insert engine and snug 4 screws and roll your car. As you roll it their should be no binding and should be smooth.

The best way to align your gears is to place a small strip of paper that is wide enough to cover both gears, then put your engine on and screw the screws down just enough that you are still able to slide the engine. At this point you should have a piece of paper between the transmission spur gears and the clutch bell gears, now press the engine against the gears at the same time turning the transmission gears so the gears mesh with the paper between the two sets of gears but not ripped where the teath are now tighten down the engine while still pressing lightly. Once the engine is tightened down turn the gears to remove the paper and you should be able to turn the trans gears and feel just a tiny bit of play between your clutch bell gear and trans gears.

If this is your first time doing this, DO NOT, just tighten the engine down and roll it back and forth feeling for play. After a few times of doing it and learning what your feeling for you should be able to do that, but I would highly suggest NOT doing that. Hopefully the attached pics will help out.
