HimotoRacingUSA -> Anyone having their avatar removed? (5/10/2008 5:20:02 PM)

Ranger 4x4 has pm'd me and asked why his avatar was removed, it was of a himoto logo. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem recently and if the moderator who keeps removing them could explain why?

RCKen -> RE: Anyone having their avatar removed? (5/10/2008 5:37:51 PM)

Posts that do not follow the RCU Community Rules are either edited so that they are in line with the rules, or more often those posts are deleted. RCU is a privately owned and operated discussion website and therefore can maintain rules that govern conduct of it's members while here. All members agree to follow these rules when they join RCU. I have removed many posts here on RCU but I can't say anything about what Kuppler is referring to as he has not provided any referrence as to what posts have been removed. It would be impossible for me to review ALL of RCU and find ALL of the posts that are removed on a daily basis simply to state here why those posts were removed. When a post is removed from a thread the Moderator that removes the post will normally contact the member to inform them that their post was removed and why. The exception to that is when an entire chain of posts is removed because they are a reply to a post that is removed. In that case the member that made the original post will be notified but the rest will not.

If anybody has any questions about the rules here on RCU they can be found here: RCU Community Rules

Hi Ken,

Its not the removing of posts thats the problem, i understand off topic posts need to be deleted but alot of members are having their himoto avatars removed, since himotoracing is a paid advertiser and from what the rules seem to say, people are allowed to have a paid advertiesers logo as an avatar. Ranger4x4 and other members are having their avatars removed.

kuppler -> RE: Anyone having their avatar removed? (5/10/2008 5:43:20 PM)

RCKen,
ok i know about the Post being deleted that arnt following the RCU rules.
but what about the one's that are following the rules.. and we are talking about the Thread.. and then they are Deleted????
and what about Ranger4x4 aviator and some other's?? whoever deleted all the post a lil bit ago also deleted the aviator....
i know its not you ken Del the aviators and the post. you always email and let the RCU members know about what they did wrong and Thanks for that.

HimotoRacingUSA -> RE: Anyone having their avatar removed? (5/10/2008 6:46:50 PM)

Just found this on the rcu rules, its says avatars are available to present your favorite r/c item so i dont see what the problem is with the himoto avatars

SIGNATURES :: AVATARS :: USER TITLES
Avatars, signatures and user titles are available to present your favorite r/c item or saying to the public in every post you make. No political, social, religious, or other similar off topic will be allowed. You may not provide any information to a commercial website unless you are an RCU Banner Advertiser. As an RCU advertiser the information allowed is limited to company name, logo, insignia or website URL. No other promotional or advertising material is allowed except the information that is required by the disclosure statement.

Personal and r/c club links in the signature are acceptable as long as the website is not commercial or in any form of competition with RCU.

Any signature or avatar offensive or pornographic in materials will be removed immediately at management's discretion.

You may alter your User Title after 10 days and 10 posts. Under no circumstances may you impersonate a moderator or senior staff of RCU. These titles are earned and appointed only by RCU Administrator's.

I have reviewed the thread that you referrenced here and I agree with the posts that were removed from it. They were off the thread topic. I understand that some might think that it's being heavy handed to remove posts like that because everybody was just "talking among friends". Trust me, we understand that as a thread moves a long a post or two may get made that's not on topic and those normally do not get removed as the thread normally gets back on topic pretty quickly. But the off topic content in this thread went on for over a page and a half of posts and definitely needed to be removed. When a thread gets that off topic it really leaves us with in a weird position. Technically we really should just remove the entire thread when they are that off topic because of the time involved with removing that many posts. But in this case the Moderator involved decided to spent the time to remove the posts in order for the thread to remain intact. If he were "power hungry" as some have claimed he would have just removed the thread instead of spending the time to delete that many posts.

As far as Blue's post about a paint job. Yes, that DEFINITELY needed to be removed. He posted graphics which depicted an inappropriate hand gesture. I agree that it should have been removed

Yes it was, and it was explained to you why that happened.

ranger4x4 -> RE: Anyone having their avatar removed? (5/10/2008 10:20:51 PM)

ok i do understand the whole removing off topic posts to certain extent, but why remove my avatar? am i being singled out? this is the third time my avatar has been removed. and i never got any explanation as to why my latest post was deleted in the himoto drifting thread.i wasn't even notified by pm or email.this edit is to clarify i was wrong it's not in the drifting thread i was referring to the taipan drifter thread.

ranger4x4 -> RE: Anyone having their avatar removed? (5/10/2008 10:27:49 PM)

i just checked and i see that i can no longer have an avatar. i wonder why? i was not given any explanation what so ever.

HimotoRacingUSA -> RE: Anyone having their avatar removed? (5/11/2008 2:02:30 AM)

ranger4x4 -> RE: Anyone having their avatar removed? (5/11/2008 2:21:16 AM)

thanks ed you are the man! but if they don't like me having an avatar so be it. don't get into any trouble or nothing like that over me, lol

RCKen -> RE: Anyone having their avatar removed? (5/11/2008 2:47:07 AM)

Ok, at this point I think that this thread has gone as far as it's going. If Ed finds out anything he can PM members on the side. This isn't the proper place to discuss such issues past this point. I'm locking this thread.

Ken
