So i go into my LHS with my wife for some screws for my Revo 3.3. Just looking to spend $3. I see the Savage XL out of the box and i decide to look at it. My wife sees it and here is the conversation:

Wife: "Just get it"
Me: "You do see the Price, Right?"
Wife: "Ya so, It's only Money"
Me: "I just bought you the E-Savage 2 weeks ago"
Wife: "So"
Me: "Hmm, Let me do some research about it first and than i will decide"

Just to let you all know. My wife and daughter take my trucks out and bash them with me.

So that leaves me here with some questions. As of now i have only owned Traxxas Trucks. The stock engines are crap in them. Both the 2.5 and the 3.3. They never stayed tuned. I have an OS18TM in 1 of my Revos and that's the best engine ever (Never need to touch the settings).

So here are my questions:

1: How is the new 5.9 motor for tuning?

2: Are HPI motors better than Traxxas in reliability? Before you flame me on tunning i know what i'm doing. I've had a Revo 3.3 motor snap the connecting rod for no reason. Sounds strange but the motor was running perfect all day with an average temp of 230. I shut it off for 30 minutes for the drive home and do after-run care and i couldn't turn it over.

3: I can't seem to find this answer. How much does the new Savage weigh?

Thanks for the some what long read.

The XL was just released so you won't get much information about it. The desiged however is simpliar to the x 4.6 which is a tank. It's can take a beating and stuff doesn't beat as often.

As for tuning, if it's as ez as the F or K4.6 then it should hold a tune pretty well and also ez to tune.

Just read this from hpi it shows / tells you the differences.

I haven't taken any video of my x4.6 but will in the future.

Here's a link of my Savage 21 which is alot older then the x 4.6 or the XL and still can take a beating.

Can I have a date with your wife? Just a few seconds at the online order desk will be fine. That way I can tell my wife that your wife said it was okay. I really want to go ahead and buy one, but am worried that I will wish I had gone with the Fast Lane chassis and a Picco 28..... I am sure I will buy one............. Good Job! Welcome to our side of the fence! BB

You'll probably be amazed at how much more you'll be able to do with the truck that you won't worry about the engine as much. The way I see it, is that since it is an hpi product, then I bet the motor will be a decent motor. It would probably run better with an LRP or Picco, but I be the 5.9 will have a decent fan base.

As the knight in Indiana Jones and the last crusade said, "You have chosen wisely".

Hey guys, this is the wife ( i don't have a name on this board, so I am using his) I want the truck because I already broke my E-Savage from bashing it in the dirt on Mothers Day,
and I don't have another truck to bash on, So I need something to bash on and won't break like the Revo.

I played with his TC4 - TOO MUCH POWER!!! All I know is that it is brushless. I was skidding all over the track, laughing my ass off while i hit the walls.

So, yeah - when we went to the Hobby store I wanted him to by the Savage XL right and then and there... It's only money, life is too short not to spend it. If the bills are paid for/food on the table and in the Fridge , and my daughter has what she needs - Hell ya it's time to play. And since he did not buy it, and I have broken my truck - now I have no truck to play with..( parts have to be special order) Wife is not happy....

The wife needs to just take the initiative since the husband won't, and just go pick it up for herself. Then let him watch her play with it!

i can`t see getting it. i have a X already.
my LHS has them in stock. as soon as i walked in the door.
i saw it. the owner even took it out of the box for me to touch it and smell it.
i have to keep telling myself NO. put the truck down and walk out and nobody gets hurt. LOL

Wrong! You're hurt, deep down inside you're scarred, and the only thing that can help is a dose of XL bashing!

I have three Savages, one extended chassis and I am still going to have to get one.
I doubt it will be as fast as the ones I have now, but it is a sick addiction.
Hey! Maybe of I buy two, one for the wife of course, evrything will be great!
Probably not though, since she will not even try to drive one....
