I been reaserching a variety of sailplanes and think that a EP plane may be the best bet for my situation. I don't have sloaps to fly from and not to crazy about hi starts althouigh I'm not ruling them out. So maybe the ep would be the best bet. I will be flying in large open parks or at a club setting near foothills. I do have the option of flying at our club during the week and usually have the field to myself. That may make the Hi Start a little more manageable! Does anyone have any suggestions? I have concidered the Cularis, Spirit Elite, Easy Glider and Spectra. Does anyone have an opinion about these planes or others and good motors to go with? Thanks...

I'm also concidering a few non ep sailplanes such as the Bird of time, Spirit 100 and the Easy Glider.

I think the Easy Glider Electric would fill the bill in your case. Multilplex is coming out with a brushless version, so I would wait for that one. The stock brushed motor that comes with the Easy Glider that's available now is not too powerful, but it will get you to altitude. It's an easy bird to fly and rather forgiving of errors. It thermals pretty good, too. Can't really go wrong with an Easy Glider. Thousands of people fly'em. Jim

I am ready to maiden my Reichart Mistral 2600e...I went with the suggested motor/esc/prop combo listed on http://www.EspritModels.com. Axi, CC45, Graupner folding prop. TP 2100 3s battery.

I think it's overkill for what I want to do (thermal duration) but then again, maybe it's right....I dunno, I'm a nitro guy, so I just followed the suggestions.

You can,t beat the easy glider for worry free fun flying. Just bring your bottle of ca for quick fixes. I put in a brushless six series 2700kv by eflite with a graupner cam folding prop. plenty of power. Don't waste your time with the stock brushed motor very under powered. You can,t beat the elapor foam. I would have gone through many planes if it wasn't for that stuff. been thinking of upgrading to the cularis but that mistral 2600e looks very interesting. If your just getting into gliding I would go with the easyglider. hannie.

The spirit elite is one of the best planes i've had the privilege to fly. It has full house controls plus flaps or spoilers. The full house control system and non-dyhedral wing make for an excellent first glider and a great advanced glider at the same time (just adjust the throws). The best kind of EP system that would go with the Spirit would be a brushless outrunner system for greater torque or an inrunner system for speed and power. The spirit performs better without extra weight so LiPo batteries are a requirement. The flaps make for great low speed landings and the ailerons give you versatility and competition class aerobatics (again, the plane can be a trainer or a competition class sailplane depending on throws/rates).

I guess suggestions are all over the place because you are saying 100" but giving us a list of plane that are smaller.

I have a Mistral also, a very good glider with ailerons, flaps, elevator, rudder, and throttle at 102".

The Spirit Elite is 78.5" but a good glider, not a full house glider with flaps.

The Easy Glider at 71 and out of foam is a good beginers glider but not a real glider. If you are flying in a rough area with no LZ then you may want to consider it over a high end composite.

The Cularis might be the best in your situation. Bigger, full house, with flaps, and 102".

I was wondering how Mark made out on his maiden flight with the mistral 2600E. I'm curious to see how it handled and was it very difficult to put together. It looks great in the picture. hannie

It handles very well. The only thing is the need for aileron to rudder mix for smooth turns. It is a fairly good ship. Good price too and not too expensive to outfit. I used hs 81's all around though I should put in MG servos on the flaps. I got a AXI 2826-12 at a good price, a pair of Zippy 2000 3S at $20 ea, a CC60 and a CC BEC. I got the plane for $50 used too so I have a great plane at a very resonable out lay.
