Status: offline 		Yeah i was built in only a small amount of time. It took me a little longer than it should have just with modifying to fit servos but still very good build.

Yeah ive seen that movie and his harriers look so much better than mine. well actually alot of his flying looks better than mine!!!

Yeah your right about locking into knife edges...It doesn't seem to want to unless with a bit of speed..Slow it down and it starts dipping and doing funny stuff.

As i said before i'm using the thunderpower extreme 2200's so probably lighter than yours... I still think i need to move my battery more fwd...though i dont want to add weight to it, i reckon at 1.3 kg's without battery im probably on the heavy side of what i'd like to be... I'll have to see if i can move stuff around to get the weight more fwd.. or use an aluminium spinner back plate or something...just to get more fwd COG.

I cant say i've tried the rolling loop yet on mine..Rolling circles on the other hand i feel like a pro! So easy!

Another great morning flying for me! I've managed to get the CG sorted i think...Cant tell you where it is exactly at this point in time as i've just thrown the battery in and found its sweet spot!

I havent used weights or anything like that, but putting my battery right up front against the firewall seems to be spot on. Its hands off when inverted, no climbing or diving but its improved the upright harrier heaps! I think you still need to be on the rudder heaps to keep it balanced but its now possible to do an upright stable harrier. Inverted harriers are still a piece of cake, no bad tendancies at all.

Only problem i have now is batteries.. Im overdrawing them or doing something to them as i have swelled 2 batteries in 2 flights. Both have since been replaced under warranty but that isnt the point. I need to try different props or something... Any ideas anyone?

I havent got anything to measure current draw either...

Status: offline 		What prop, Motor, batteries and ESC are you on mate?

I'm on 14/7E with the stock X55 Hacker ESC and A30 motor and a mix of Polyquest and Flightpower Evo25 3S cells. They do get quite warm, but nothing I'm worried about. I have heard that the recommended 15/7 prop is causing trouble though.

You really need to get/borrow a watt meter to diagnose it though.

Status: offline 		Im using a Scorpion 70amp esc and hacker A30-10xl motor spinning currently a 14x7e APC prop.

I also tried the 13x8e prop but was dissapointed with its vertical pull out, though it did seem to spin this prop better.

I have just ordered a 14x7e and a 13x7e XOAR wooden props as i read somewhere they are better than the APC's and are more efficient. I'll give them a try and see how i go. My cells also get warm, but have never gotten real hot. My mate had hyperion cells he was using and these got too hot to touch and they still didnt swell. needless to say he ditched them. ( only rated at 15- 20c)

I'll see if i can get my hands on one, though being on a UNI budget doesnt allow for these luxuries.!!

Status: offline 		My Polyquests get very hot but the Flightpower Evo25 only gets warm. Guess it's down to the C rating on them.

Had some great flight on her this weekend. Too quiet for me though

Status: offline 		I know exactly what you mean it barely makes any noise at all! I have noticed though it makes a wicked howly sort of cowl noise if you fly flat out past you. Sounds awesome!

If only i had the cash for a gasser! 35%er should do it!

My friend ran Hyperion cells in his sebart katana and was killing his batteries because of the C rating. When he finished his flight his batteries would be too hot to hold for any longer than 5 seconds... THATS HOT in my books! My batteries usually only get warm, once every now and again hot, but not too hot to hold.

I found one of my mates has an amp meter, so will hook up with him in the near future to check current draw to make sure im not cooking batteries.

I read somewhere else as well that XOAR props are supposed to be more efficient than APC props as well. So i have ordered a XOAR 14x7e and a 13x7e to test which is better.

WIll let you know the results when i get them back with my new packs. would be interesting to test against APC props as well.

Status: offline 		Well i took the sukhoi out again today with the new XOAR 13x7 wooden electric prop and can safely say it was dissapointing.

I know the current draw was less, it did 3d etc..But when it came to vertical pullout...Nothing happened.

I was torque rolling only a foot or so off the deck and it became really fast in its spin.. I managed to be quick enough to catch it but when i gave it a blast of throttle expecting it to soar away... It didnt..It kind of hesitated for a second as if to think about it and then say..Oh all right stop nagging im going already!

So even though i havent measured current draw as yet, (hopefully in the next week or so) i dont think i'll be going back to the 13x7 prop.. It would be fantastic on 4 cell im sure but on the 3 cell it was dissapointing to say the least. And to top it all off, the batteries werent any warmer or any cooler than before!

It does however look ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC on!!!

Will let you know how it goes with the 14x7 XOAR next flight time!

Status: offline 		I Agree. The XOAR 13x7 is pants Did look good though.... Might try it on 4s. Won't fit in my spinner either without major surgery. I'm back with my good old APC-E 14x7

Let me know if the 14x7 XOAR is any better mate.

Status: offline 		I managed to do surgery on the spinner and it fit ok without too many hassles. I only wish i had 4 cells to try it out on! (xoar 13x7 that is)

Status: offline 		Had another FANTASTIC flight today..

I love this plane more and more each time i fly it!

So the XOAR 14x7 seems to definately be the way to go. Havent tested the current draw yet but performance wise its fantastic. IS much quieter than the APC 14x7. The apc seems to make lots of cutting whiring noise in tourque rolls, harriers etc but the XOAR is quiet as! Its seems to be tourqier than the apc too. Its like it loads up at slightly lower rpm or something. Cant say for sure until i test it on the amp meter but will keep you informed. Besides it looks FANTASTIC!

Oh and i got sick of the landing gear splaying apart...Looks like it was doing a leg spread every time i came into land.. SORTED

I just drilled a couple of tiny holes in the trailing edge of the landing gear near the wheel axles and tied the two legs together with some real thin pull pull cable i had lying around. Makes it nice and stiff and stands proud now! And best of all you cant see it in the air! Personal touch that one, totally up to the individual!

Status: offline 		Yeah, the ZOAR is a nice prop.... But to quiet I need it louder! Flying with a couple of other nitro birds in the sky mean I can't hear mine at all, and not having had such a big electric model before means I miss hearing what the motor is up to.

I like the UC mod. Can't do it to mine with the state of out field though. I'd end up cutting the grass My tail wheel keeps breaking, so I'm goind to loose it and just have a carbon skid.
