Status: offline 		Anyone here have the Four-Star 120? I see the spec sheet calls for a 100 oz servo torgue but 60 oz for elevator and ailerons. Why such a powerful servo on the rudder? It would seem like my 60 oz servos should work fine.

Status: offline 		I've had a 4*120. great sport plane. I flew mine for over 5 years
and wore out 2 motors on it. ALL the servo's were 48 oz and I never
had a problem.

As a matter of fact , a new 4* kit is being delivered this week so
I can have it ready for next fall /winter.

Status: offline 		Spend the extra money and get a 100+ in/oz servo and you could save several hundred dollars in the end. Remember, a under strength servo will just help the plane get to the crash site sooner.

This is not the place to take a minimilist appraoch.

Food for thought. A 48 oz/inch servo delivers 48 oz of
force at 1 inch from the center of rotation.

If your pushrod to your rudder is only a 1/2 inch out
on the servo wheel , (typ std wheel) then your rudder
is really going to see 48x2= 96oz.

If you have the bigger servo then use it but the 48 will
work just fine. In most cases depending on the flyer it's
only used to steer with anyway. (And yes , I use mine
during flight )

Status: offline 		Thanks for the input fellows. I also posed the question to Sig and they suggested my existing 60 oz servos would be okay on the rudder as long as I'm not a strong stunt flyer - I'm best described as a weakling when it comes to stunting (:-).

Even so, I figured that I may someday start to enjoy stunt flying so an extra buck or two wouldn't be the end of the world.

The main motive for buying an ARF 120 was to get myself ready for the SpacewalkerII that I'm going to build soon. They appear to be similar planes.

Status: offline 		Don, I just got another 4*120 this week ,(kit) so I can have it
ready for the fall/winter as a knock around. One thing that
the 4*'s really respond to quite well is a little ballast on the CG.
The additional weight brings the wing loading up to where it
should be and it will carry a better in the wind.

Status: offline 		Thanks Roby. The wing loading "problem" is much the same as my Senior Telemaster. I flew her last year at the finished weight of 9 pounds and she is a real floater so this season I'll be adding quite a bit of weight.

As to the Four-Star I'll go with the stock "floater" until I get to know the plane and see how well I can handle it then, like you, I'll probably add some weight.

This is an ARF but it looks as though it will take quite a bit of time to assemble so it will be about a month before I get her ready. Maybe we can share some notes then.

I love my Saito 82 (in the Telemaster) so I'm kind of anxious to see how the Saito 125 will perform. Sounds like the Four-Star will be a good match for the engine and me.
