Brent Davis -> New Ofna CD3 .21 big block in the works (5/11/2008 3:42:23 AM)

Well after letting my NTC3 go up for sale and sold in a day, I decided to give the Ofna CD3 a shot at building since the car has steel diff gears, a center trans with two smaller steel driveshafts, better steel CVD design, bigger control arms, 0.8 gearing option with a 28 & 29 second gear CB, front & rear stabilizer bars and I can now use a 1/8th scale muffler designed for .21 and larger motors instead of the muffler that Schumacher sells for their big block car which is very small IMO compared to normal 1/8th scale mufflers. So far, so good and I have room for improvement with some carbon fiber pieces and even a new chassis that has come out. I just got the car in yesterday morning and took it out the box and immediately took the engine off and rear end apart to shorten the rear control arms, lengthen the motor mount slots on the chassis to accomodate the big block mounts and cut/re-weld the rear CVD's. I also had to fab up the new header with several bends that I had laying around but got it done.

That looks really slick Brent!! Especially like how you did your pipe that should get you alot more rpms on the topend . Really looks bullet proof.[sm=thumbup.gif]

Thanks guys. My brand new fawkin' fuel tank is leaking. Looks like where they put the top and bottoms together at the seam, the top moved just enuff to have a nice slot there to cause a leak[:(]. I JB welded it back up and that stopped the leak so I will call tomorrow and order a new one, they are $8 so instead of dealing with the warranty stuff and send this one back before getting a new one, I'll just order one. I am waiting for my damn tire truer to get back so I can cut some new tires down and get this thing on the road.

nitrohead, what's up with the NTC3 man? This CD3 is a great piece man and I am surprised that it gets no more reviews because of the upgraded parts on it.

Brent right now it is on the back burner. I did finally get the steel ring gear I need to modify the ring so I need to do that. My primary focus I have been trying to hunt down one of those K-Factory 220mm Conversion kits for my V-1RRR Evo. I believe I found a hobbyshop in California that carries them Kamikaze Hobbies . I am going to change the internal final gear ratio and put in a highly modified TZ .18 motor in it. This car will be my high speed oval -road course car. Not only will this car be really fast but it will handle too. Here is a link http://kawahara-racing.co.jp/ezw.html These cars are 1/10 cars on nitrous if you put a .18 or .21 size motor in them.[:D]

That looks like some serious fun. I will tell you though to be careful with the .18 TZ motor. I have seen rods breaking alot on highly modded ones that oviously was making more power. I saw two last weekend night and one the week before that. All were modded but no rod work and the rods broke on all three that I saw ranging from EBmods, ABmods and one other place out of Florida. The motors were wicked fast and all but the guys that had them said that they have had them for about 2-4 month ranges.

I plan to make it out to North Carolina in a month or so to a local street drag race scene that is organized as well. my class would be "Street Outlaw" which is a 4-wheel drive production car that you can modify like I am doing and run any motor that you want to. I plan to also take my newly ported RB Xenon "R" with me as well as a highly ported Picco P3 That is said to make in the range of 2.3 to 2.5 HP and just over 85 oz. tq. [X(]. Now that would propel the CD3 in 150' pretty damn fast I think. I'll keep you posted as well. You got any pics of the V-1 RRR?

Thanks for the tip on the .18TZ's if they are popping like that I might just go with a .21 instead.[:D] This car with its excellent handling is going to take the place of my Fusion if I can get all the mods completely right. This is the car that Ziggy went 90plus mph with.

Check this Link Brent to see what a K- Factory 220mm looks like. http://kawahara-racing.co.jp/ezw.html

ProRCRacer88 -> RE: New Ofna CD3 .21 big block in the works (5/12/2008 2:42:44 AM)

I seen one run somewhere I think that you posted Nitrohead. Thats going to be the big thing like 235mm class use to be! That onroad stuff looks like so much fun now that I dont run onroad atm.

Brent are you talking about the NC even thats June 7th and 8th? I know some guys around here are going, im not for the fact Im not racing and since its a 2 day event, it would be a waste in my case for hotel room, etc.

nitrohead5300 -> RE: New Ofna CD3 .21 big block in the works (5/12/2008 4:20:02 AM)

Yeah, Pro but the K-Factory Conversion you saw racing against that 1/8 scale Serpent onroad only had a .12 in it I am going to put .18-.21 in mine it should be even faster.[:D]
