NorfolkSouthern -> RE: Pulse XT 40 Crash (5/13/2008 5:19:17 AM)

Actually, mistakes like this do happen with low-wings like the Pulse. You fly the pattern on a regular basis enough. Do inverted flight, loops, wing-overs, hammerheads, and all the works. Sooner or later, you get bored and then get the idea that low-wing trainers are invincible. In this case, the pilot figured that he could do some 3D with it, which was successful until the engine died apparently. My Rapture 40 went down when I tried something similar, only this time it was a kite hover into the wind, which is why I feel this thread needs to be here, so that others know what can happen when an airframe is flown beyond its limitations. My Rapture tip-stalled, spiraled, pancaked, and then cartwheeled. It just about busted the wing to pieces underneath the covering and made a new set of wheel wells after the hard landing, mandating a total rebuild of that structure. It will be back in service soon. The repairs were almost as much as a new kit! NorfolkSouthern
